It's a play about the assassination of Donald trump.

Its a play about the assassination of Julius Caesar that they made look like Trump because Trump is the most powerful man in the world like Julius Caesar was. You see this is called "art" do you want me to explain the history of theatre to you..

Something like this? barack odumber in the role of Julius Caesar.

It can still be relevant by using the original character of Julius Caesar. There's no reason to use a modern day political figure in that role unless you're the director trying to stir up controversy by targeting that figure with your expression of hatred.

Its called making an old play relevant and is used all the time.

Here is an updated version of coriolanous staring Ralph Fienes.

And here is Romeo and Juliet placed in a modern setting with Leonardo Decaprio.

I could go on and on and on at this but you seem to have the last 500 years of culture pass you by.

Let's say that someone really did stage a play that actually was about the assasination of Trump (I myself toyed with writing a short story about Dubya being kidnapped and killed, by terrorists employed by his own political advisers). So what? It's satire. It's fiction. Remember The Trial Of Tony Blair a few years ago? While there was a massive public outcry calling for it to actually happen, there was no way that Blair was really going to stand trial. Now, it is illegal for anyone to call publicly for the death of a sitting US president. If Trump's supporters believe that this production of Julius Caesar crosses that line, they should be doing something about it. Are they?

Nice try. It was a left wing activist inspired by violent progressive propaganda, tolerated by MSM bias, that shot Republicans. Sorry if that doesn't fit your narrative. Grow-up. Get a fucking life.

I love your eloquent repartee. You live down to my expectations.

From what I see there is every reason to suspect that this perversion of Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" for being nothing more than the director's own hatred of President Trump. The director is Oskar Eustis, a leftist who hates conservatives, Republicans, and he hates Donald Trump. President Trump is Eustis' outlet for his hate. He also offers this brand of theatrical perversion as an outlet for his Trump hating audience so they too can vent their anger and applaud when the Trump like Caesar is stabbed to death.

Oskar Eustis is a leftist. His father was a Minnesota official for the Democrat Party and his Stepfather and Mother were members of the Communist Party. His Stepfather ran for Governor Of Minnesota on the Communist Party ticket. There's no reason to trust or believe the left when they dismiss this play to be something else other than a way to vent their hatred and anger toward President Trump. Never trust the left to tell the truth.

Quote:Like Papp, who belonged to the Communist Party in his youth, Eustis is a congenital leftist. His father, Warren Eustis, was a district attorney and an official of the Democratic Party in Minnesota, where Eustis grew up; Walter Mondale, Eugene McCarthy, and Hubert Humphrey were friends of the family. His stepmother, Nancy Eustis, is a sociologist at the University of Minnesota. His mother, Doris Marquit, a retired professor of literature and women’s studies, is an ardent activist and a member of the Communist Party; Eustis’s stepfather, Erwin Marquit, is a professor emeritus of physics at the University of Minnesota who, in 1974, ran for governor on the Communist Party ticket. Eustis’s politics are less doctrinaire—he supported Michael Bloomberg for reëlection last year, in acknowledgment of the New York mayor’s enthusiastic support for the arts—but he remains ostentatiously anti-establishment. Posters of the Berliner Ensemble hang on the walls of his office, and a carved statuette of Lenin stands on a shelf, juxtaposed with the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical that the Public won, last year, for its Broadway production of “Hair.” He does not mind it being thought that he adopted the name Oskar—his given name is Paul—in honor of Oskar Matzerath, the antihero of “The Tin Drum,” by Günter Grass, though in fact the name was bestowed on him by two disparaging classmates in seventh grade.

And Shakespeare's original was likely about fears of a civil war due to Elizabeth I's not naming a successor to the throne.

And..?

Wow you are very ignorant on art and how art is used as a reflection of current events.

Your lack of education in what I would have thought an essential part of western society is truly saddening.

Entirely irrelevant.

Its a Shakespeare play that had the julious Caesar character played by someone who looks like Trump. Not the imagined death by assassination of Donald Trump.

So what? seriously so.

Even if he had imagined a Trump being sodomised to death by a herd of african elephants with barbed wire covered dicks, all it would mean was that someone had written that play.

You want to see incitement to violence.

You forgot West Side Story for being a modern version of Romeo and Juliet. But, they weren't portraying modern political figures being assassinated.
