Yeah, reality isn't jiving with your picture of a far right that's not as bad as the far left. There are plenty of groups to counterbalance the crazy far left. The problem is, both sides are fucking the rest of us over. Why does no one notice the crazy conservatives in here all of a sudden?

The right wing of the republican party has and always will talk bullshit like Nazi 'death panels.'  The Sarah Palin wing.  The Tea Party/Freedom Caucus/Religious crazies.  But the moderate wing, people who like Mitt Romney and the others of his kind that the far right accuses of not really being republicans, aren't calling anyone Nazi's.  We don't think Obama was Kenyan, Muslim, or any of those things.  

We used to have counterparts.  But the people I expect to be reasonable democrats has shifted way left into the crazy rhetoric area.  The people who I'd think would have a civil conversation while the wings call eachother Nazi's are now in the calling people Nazi's business.


Too reiterate my original point. I don't think the rhetoric has changed. I think that a lot of people who I'd expect to be too smart to buy into the rhetoric are now engaging in it when they weren't previously.

You've had plenty of posts to explain why you think the comparison doesn't fit, but you've been content to call those who make it crazy or dumb.  Well, even if everyone who made such a comparison -was- crazy, and/or dumb...that still wouldn't make the comparison any more or less accurate, huh?

Exactly what I've said here in several threads. The dems lost their once largest and most loyal voting base in the last general election, the white male blue collar working class in the coal states and in the rust belt. Those same voters in once democrat held states who went for Trump in the last election, some of which hadn't voted for a Republican president in thirty years. Wisconsin, a shoe in for the dems also went Trump's way. During her campaign Hillary didn't even step one foot in that state. The lesson here, which the dems still hasn't learned, obviously, is that you don't win elections by ignoring your largest voting base. "Stronger Together!" How the hell is that supposed to connect with out of work coal miners and unemployed manufacturing workers? Like you said, if the dems keep dismissing that one important little fucking clue they're going to lose more congressional seats in the midterms. I have faith in the dems that they'll do just that.

There are nowadays moderate left-of-center politicians as well, who engage in civil discourse and attempt to construct compromises. I'm not sure why your apparent blind spot seems to cover them so precisely, but it rather impugns your opinion as being borne of bias, to me.

Sure, there are moderate politicians.  They know the rhetoric is all a part of the game.  I'm sure a few of them drink their own kool-aid, but for the most part, they know it's just a tool they hand out to the masses to try and win elections.  That's why W, who was 100% a racist war criminal is somehow able to be friends with Obama a Kenyan who hates america and vice versa. 

Maybe there are some moderates, and I'm just overlooking them.  Maybe they just keep quiet, because if they tell people like Khemikal that Trump isn't like Hitler in any meaningful way, people like Khem will call them a Nazi sympathizer and socially ostracize them, and it's not worth the hassle?
