If the Republicans want to keep gun laws as they are so that more crazies can shoot them up, who am I to stand in their way?

It isn't just affecting their party , gun violence is everywhere, not just big cities or suburbs. I see stories out here in the sticks too. Our gun injury/death epidemic is not a class or race or political issue, but only one party loves making it those things because they put profits over human lives.

I am no fan of revenge and never will be. I don't want their politicians dead just because I don't like their policies. I simply want them to wake the fuck up.

One can hope that they wake up. I consider this a wake up moment for everyone in America on both sides. If we do not take this opportunity to make things better, to ratchet hate speech down, to promote cooperation and compromise, then we will continue on down the road to civil war. And if that is the case, then we Progressives and Seculars better had prepare for it. Then it becomes an issue of survivability.

Just took a look at the FB group.  Some are criticizing the violence.  I do find anti-Republican and anti-Conservative, and anti-Dominionist groups appealing.  The frustrating thing about groups, having started a meetup group once myself for freethinkers in my area, is the lack of action.  If you are  talking about a problem and issues but you are not doing anything about it, not acting, then what is the point?  It is useless chatter.  Which is why I abandoned my group, nobody was willing to do anything, they were all talk.   This is a serious problem, because if you are faced with a great threat, like Dominionism, like the slow creation of a dictatorship, and you do nothing, then it is your own damn fault for not opposing it if you get caught up in its tentacles.  If you are aware of danger then for fuck's sake do something about it!

I am anti-republican, but not pro violence. Yes, I am against "fuck you I got mine" economics and I am against "die quickly" health care policy. And I am against their far right bigoted base. No I will not apologize for that. But none of what I just said is oppression or a call for violence.

Overall, I am not for violence either. But neither am I a pacifist. If someone gets up my nose I am going to defend myself. If I see someone else suffering from an attack from another, if I am able, I will intervene, by voice, by hand, or with a two-by-four, or with a gun, if need be. We all know human history, or should. We should all know what happens when the strong think they can pick on the weak or see weakness and take advantage of those they think that are weak. I do not want to see us Seculars as a community, or any community, become the prey of the Right Wing. We need to recognize that we may become targets and take the necessary steps to prevent us and others from becoming victims of another genocide.

I agree that bashing is getting no one anywhere. However, I do think the Republicans in office will have to take some responsibility for the political climate in this country at some point. Eight years of Obama-bashing and then putting Trump in office has obviously triggered some folks. We are going to keep having radicals if we don't do something about the rhetoric. We are going to keep having shootings if we don't do something about gun control. The best way to treat this situation is to use it as an opportunity to fix some things.

As far as a wake up call for Congress, it should not only be a wake up call that they are now targets, but that it should also be a wake up call that We the People expect Congress to drop their bullshit fighting with one another from both sides of the aisle and actually do some bipartisan work on important issues. Americans are facing some important issues that need to be addressed: a balanced national budget, tax reform, safe drinking water, a living wage, etc., etc., etc. Not addressing these issues along with the rhetoric is what is stressing us out and making us more angry.
