Matter and energy can be past-eternal

Come on, dude, he took all that time off his D&D adventures to type those posts.  You've got to give him SOME kind of payoff!

I didn't say you are a programmer, did I?  But I'm still pretty sure you are either a college kid or a high school kid, because most adults have seen their fields written often enough to know that they aren't capitalized.  That's because course names are capitalized, but job titles are not, unless used with a proper name or implying one: "Computer Scientist Smith started learning how to program a computer today!"

Of course, there is one other case in which people capitalize job fields unnecessarily: self-aggrandizing douches.  So maybe you are, after all, a computer scientist.  But I'm guessing we're about one hissy-fit away from being forced to read that you're a "1337 CoMpUtEr SCIENTIST ?︎□︎◆︎♍︎♒︎♏︎♌︎♋︎♑︎."

Anyhow.. is Alex getting that evidence for his credentials or what? It's been like day now. I'm starting to think that he really isn't a physicist. Just kidding. I've thought that from the beginning. Lol.
He doesn't need to, because he's not making an appeal to authority.  That was you, 'member?

First, I didn't say you called me a programmer (there's that poor reading comprehension again!). I said there's a difference between a programmer per se and a Computer Scientist per se. Technically, a person who can program in Javascript is a programmer and that sort of person probably wouldn't have the knowledge to assess whether or not another person is a Computer Scientist.

Regardless, you got me. I'm not a Compu... I mean, computer scientist. You win. I'm actually a middle school student and Mrs. Booker, my 7th grade home room teacher, just finished teaching us QBasic, and I allowed this new found knowledge to go straight to my head.

But can Alex please provide some evidence showing that he's a physicist? Pretty please? I'm really starting to think he's a hack.

His evidence is that he knows what he's talking about. Instead of asking for his credentials, why don't you answer his question, and unless he's tired of your juvenile rants, he might actually teach us something about physics.

Appeal to Authority:
"Using an authority as evidence in your argument when the authority is not really an authority on the facts relevant to the argument.  As the audience, allowing an irrelevant authority to add credibility to the claim being made."
https://www.logicallyfallacious.com/tools/lp/Bo/LogicalFallacies/21/Appeal-to-Authority

Stephen Hawking is a renowned physicist so invoking his knowledge of the big bang isn't an appeal to authority because he is an authority in physics.

Alex claims he's a physicist, without providing any evidence, and you as well as several others have invoked his knowledge to refute my knowledge of cosmology. The problem is it hasn't been established that Alex is an authority in physics. He's only claimed to be an expert.

So you're the one who is making an appeal to authority.

Game. Set. Match.

He doesn't know what he's talking about though. I've demonstrated that. He didn't know that many cosmologists see the big bang as a singularity. He didn't know what a singularity was... Etc.

It must be sad going through life like that. I think my original irritation has turned to pity.

It's like reading one of those astrology thingies in the newspaper.

I believe that I asked for your "Computer Scientist" credentials, or at least evidence, in post #116. Have you chosen to dodge?

I also asked other questions, see below. Are you going to dodge those also?

It's got to be something, care to tell us what it is?

What are you actually angry about?

Why are you so emotionally insecure?

Do you have thoughts of persecution and this behavior is your defense?

Do you always lash out at people who do not accept your grandiose behavior?
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

@MoY

(fuck I wish people would stop ninja-ing me Tongue)

You can quote imright.com all you want, but you are appealing to Hawking's credentials rather than understanding his ideas fully enough to express them as your own. I mean, Alex was actually kind enough to respond to your appeal to Hawkings with a link for you to read. Didn't read it, didja?

Did Alex "claim" he was a physicist? I doubt that. He doesn't need to make any claims. He can just say it like it is, and you can get it, or you can embarrass yourself. Those really are your only two options, but I'm guessing you'll rant for a while, challenge him to a debate, get two posts in and then claim you have super-important school business to attend to. . . but you'll be back as soon as your grant application is settled or whatever.

How about you just skip all that, let Alex give you a few more links so you can catch up to physics that isn't 40 years old or written dumbed-down for kindergarten students and for profit, and you can learn something useful?

Dude, everyone more than 10 years old knows that scientists call the Big Bang a singularity. Try to get past that, and you'll see that physics is a big field, with very many ideas that you haven't yet had the chance to absorb, and that someone here could assist you in learning something more than a catch phrase that you picked up on the back cover of A Brief History of Time.

I've already admitted that I'm not a Computer Scien... I mean, computer scientist. I was lying.

I'll tell you why. And I mean this very seriously. When I was a child my mother and father would beat me. I got it the most from my father though. This has created a strange relationship between myself and my parents. On one hand, I love them because they're my parents while on the other, I hate them because they used to beat me.

I'm also angry about my acne. I have a ton of acne, all over my face, despite me being an adult. Why? I wash my face twice a day, use toner, etc., and I still get acne. It's disgusting and makes the women run like hell, which brings me to my next point.

I have a small penis. It's not a micropenis (thank Dawkins), but it's still very small. So even on the off chance I'm able to seduce a woman and bring her back to my parent's place (I still live with my parents as an adult), they laugh and run away at the sight of my small penis. I'll never be able to please a woman. Do you know what that feels like? Probably not. Your penis is at least average, maybe even large.

What's more, I'm an adult (19) who is still going to middle school. I've been held back a few times because I lack the motivation to do homework. That's why I kept capitalizing Computer Scientist. You're not the retard. I am. And my parents don't help or seem to care. They think I'm stupid. Instead of providing support and motivation, they yell at and threaten me.

There... you happy?

I wrote that the big bang itself is considered a singularity by contemporary cosmologists.

Alex responded by saying, “past singularities one encounters in cosmological models are merely points where classical relativity breaks down,” and then went on to say, “In which sense precisely 'is the big bang' a singularity?”

According to you, Alex has less scientific knowledge than a child.

I rest my case.

Another point for me.

Alex, when are you going to provide evidence that you're a physicist? Fucking hack.

Okay, my opinion of this guy is warming up a little. He might be a douche, but at least he's a douche with a sense of humor.
