Last I checked they're still picking up seats.

You're correct to the extent that when (if?) the ship is clearly seen to be sinking AND they start losing seats, this experiment will go in the trash can.

But they have to start losing seats first, and we're not there yet.

Somebody said something about offering good candidates and running taut, efficient campaigns, but really, how could something that radical, strange, alien, bizarre, otherworldly, stupid, contrary, illogical, confusing and unlikely ever work ??
Not exactly, they barely kept a seat in Georgia that have historically won by double digits by a mere four points; six months after they won it by twenty three points.

Anyways, IF Flynn was colluding with Russian cyber-spies then it will be the biggest scandal in US politics, and the public will not receive the news kindly. It will prove Trump is a lying criminal even to many fanatics. During Watergate the Republicans supported Nixon through Liddy, Hunt, Dean, and company. It was only when Nixon went ape shit and held the Saturday Night Massacre that GOP support was gone, and at the point the GOP was looking for any way to get Nixon removed from office.

Could Trump do something similar and try to fire the FBI team of special prosecutors? Though it sounds unthinkable, nobody though he would fire Sally Yates or James Comey. Nobody thought he would try to do exactly what Nixon did and use Dan Coats and Mike Rogers as pawns to interfere in the FBI investigation. And certainly nobody imagined him literally blowing the cover story of Rosenstein and confess on NBC that yes, Comey's firing was because of his investigation into his campaign.

We can only watch.

Well, Trump's impeachment and ill end of his rain is something that is being expected long before he even ran. Like Paul Di Fillipo that wrote in his SF story "One Day In Televison City" (published in 1990) these few lines: "Before us reared the tallest building in all of old Nuevo York, what used to be old man Trump's very HQ, before he was elected president and got sliced and diced like he did. One hundred and fifty stories worth of glass and ferrocrete, full of setbacks, crenellations, and ledges."
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

One thing that's very much different than Nixon is that Drumpfuck doesn't have the intellect nor the nous to know when he's fucked. So when the old boys trek up Pennsylvania Ave to get him to resign "for the good of the party" he'll refuse.

This'll mean two unedifying choices for the Republitraitors, either impeach and try to face down the teahadists in a civil war or chicken out and be forever known as the party which knowingly facilitated a man betraying his nation fo a couple of brass tacks.

An impeachment motion won't happen until Congressional Republicans view Trump as an anchor and not a sail.

So far they seem pretty happy with his performance.

I wish. I really really do. But I think this is simply a pipe dream. The United States is probably one of the most corrupt nations in the world. I don't say this because Trump is in office, but it really is. It is ran by the corporations, not by the people in which it was intended. If we could get money out of politics I guarantee you we would get more done. America is honestly a joke. Someone in fact the other day was saying how we are really no different than some Middle Eastern Countries in how we govern and decide our laws. You know, like on the issues of Abortion, LGBT rights, climate change and so on. The Christian right has too much of a hold on our policy making here in the United States. This is also another huge issue. The sad part is there are still plenty of morons who think that America is somehow a Christian nation and should use the Bible to dictate policy. [Thankfully this a shirking amount, but they still number in the millions].

Trump is simply destroying America's image all over the world. Now I am only 23, so I really only remember the Obama years and the Bush years, and from what I recall the U.S. had a fairly positive image around the world. I have even read news stories about how Trump is hurting American tourism.

What's funny is Trump is honestly the poster boy for American ignorance. He is exactly what is wrong with America. The entire attitude that we are the best, and that we can do whatever we want. While it may be true we are the greatest nation on earth, there is a possibility that we could easily lose that status. Sure, we won't really feel those effects here at home. However, overseas many countries will move on without us. You really think these other countries give a damn that we left the Paris Climate agreement? I really don't think they care. It is simple. The U.S. can choose to regress while other nations chose progress. New world powers will emerge as America slowly fades into isolation. Take a look at North Korea. That is what Trump is doing to America right now. Sure, we won't become some kind of communist state, but Trump and his followers want us to be more isolated from the world.

Also, with regards to Mike Pence. While I do not agree with many of his policies I think he is a better option than Trump right now. [We really have no other choice until 2020] Pence is at least mentally stable and doesn't attack people on twitter.

On all three accounts, ideological motivation, political capability, and careerist expediency, waiting for the congressional republicans to impeach trump to save the republic would be like waiting for Alfred Rosenberg to topple Adolf Hitler to save the Jews.

This.
Agent orange has massive support among GOP voters if he's impeached now there'll be fucking murder. Short of catching him in the attic with a morse code tapper, he's untouchable.

Of course he a lot of support, it's just question of when his supporters finally listen to there constituents when there up for re election in there home states. Supporting Agent Orange is career suicide in anyway, he may not be impeached but they will not reelect him. A lot of people have had buyers remorse, like a grown adult when realize that super model in a bikini they have framed on their wall makes for bad wall art and they have lost the proof of purchases.

Of course because of the teahadists the number of Republitraitor voters (except amongst the dead) has gone down an awful lot. Why else do you think they're trying to disenfranchise half the nation?

I'm not sure I understand. Half the nation is already disenfranchised. The other half are holding them by the balls. Just think of the trees, and how many of them are soon to be pulped, for soon to be published books, by the I told you so's.
We are about to live in interesting times.
