“The $28 billion given to farmers who were hurt by Trump's trade war is over twice as much as it cost to save the auto industry during the Great Recession. The one the GOP slammed.”
And most of this went to the big farms like Monsanto.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Yeah. They have the money to do what they need to fix the country. They just don't want to. The argument of "How are we going to pay for it?" doesn't work too well when they continue shoveling billions of dollars into things that don't need it.

Or, for that matter, when we shovel money into the very same problem without seeing returns that meet our expectations. There's no reason to set up any dichotomy between paying for one program, or paying for another. We can and do already pay for both programs.
In 1978 we payed approximately $700 per person in poverty, per year. As of 2018, it approached $20k per person in poverty, per year. That's almost $80k for a family of four - base replacement rate. These figures have already been adjusted for inflation and based on the value of 2018 dollars.
Meanwhile, as noted before or elsewhere (who knows, all of these scrooge threads bleed together), every dollar of this type of spending generates 70cents worth of economic value. This is an immense amount of money, and an immense amount of economic value - so where does it go, and why do families below the poverty line not enjoy the lifestyle of a family with $80k worth of spending behind them?

https://americanindependent.com/donald-t...stry-cars/ I wonder how much you will complain when farmers just give up - production sags and prices of food skyrocket?
We can start buying grain from Russia....
Farmers work on a very narrow profit margin - and only the huge conpanies can invest in the infrastructure it takes to stay profitabe.
It doesn't take too many bad seasons to put the little guys out of business...

1. This could have been avoided by trump
2.A reckless trade war isn't a solution
3.Monsanto has a dubious track record on fucking farmers over

It didn't take any bad seasons to put little guys out of business this go round, just a bunch of absurdly foolish economic policies. There actually aren't many real human beings in the food production business to begin with. Less than 1% of us feed the rest.

Stop down to the corner country store on any morning (except Sunday) and tell that group of gentlemen getting coffee that they are not real.
I talk to them on a pretty regular basis - as one of them currently leases my field to plant and everybody knows everybody.
None of them are fucking Monsanto.
They're all idependent farmers - scratching to get by. Most of them either work a straight job as well - or have pensions that they pour into their operations.
None of them are rich.
But I guess if they ain't city dwelling crackheads they aren't worthy of your "generosity".

If your farmer friends fall below the poverty line, the money described earlier is spent on them as well. Where does it go? Why are they struggling to make ends meet?

Seriously? You pay NO attention to this shit?
...
It was seriously fucked here.... Too wet to plant - and what did get planted got ate by critters because the fields were too muddy to pick. A good share in this area - close to half - lay fallow.....
The fortunate ones have crop insurance.
Ya do that a few years in a row and you go bust.
