1000 years (just for fun)

RE: 1000 years (just for fun)
Definitely 1k into the past.  Anasazi Peublo in N America, Early Postclassic Maya in S and Central.  Song Dynasty in China, Late Heian in Japan.  Might even live long enough to catch the Battle of Hastings and the First Crusade. Could catch the norse ballers "discovering america", and even check out what remained of n. european pagan civilization before the great big purge.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Do you guys really think the earth/humanity will be basically destroyed in 1000 years?

Modern humanity has been around for hundreds of thousands of years. I don't know that in only 1000 years from now it'll all have come to an end.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

In the past. But it might be hard to live without a lot of the inventions we have today that they didn't have then. If we lived back then, we wouldn't know any different. Blush But, the past totally.

Future. I've got a general idea of what it was like 1000 years ago, and looking at the wikipedia page for 1017 AD, I don't see much worth looking into. That said, of the eight events listed on the page, two involve King Cnut of England and eventually Denmark and Norway. If this was the year he tried and failed to get the tide to stop moving, I might consider it (or if this was one of the years the Vikings inhabited Vinland), but overall...

Meanwhile, there is, practically by definition, a hell of a lot more novelty in the future, and it could be literally anything. Maybe all the shit we worry about will be solved (most likely creating a whole new set of problems in the process), maybe we'll have destroyed ourselves (if Donald Trump, who repeatedly asked foreign policy experts why we don't use nukes, turns out to not be the last president of his kind, this is a distinct possibility.)

Maybe if you scaled back your timescale, I might be more  inclined to go into the past, but with 1000 years, the choice is clear.

The Past for sure, Correct many many mistakes.

Modern humanity has been around for hundreds of thousands of years. I don't know that in only 1000 years from now it'll all have come to an end.

There may be some scattered groups of survivors living in caves licking the moss off of rocks.  What we call civilization will be gone because we are not as civilized as we think we are.

I imagine someone in 475 AD leaning against one of the archways of the Roman Colosseum saying " this will last forever... "

- It would only be for one day

- You are guaranteed to not get hurt at all in your journey

- No one will be able to see you

1000 years into the future.

1000 years ago was a shit time, especially for people who did not believe in god.

1000 years in the future has the potential to be good if Trumpists haven't screwed the planet.
