RE: Damned Protestants...
Um......

Quote:A bride-to-be's dream of being the fourth generation of her family to be married at a Welsh church has been shattered after it was announced the dilapidated building would have to close. Emily Morton is now staging a sit-in protest at All Saints Church, along with 50 villagers in Maerdy, Rhondda Valleys, because she will not accept the vicar's news that her wedding ceremony is off, the Daily Mail reports.

Am I the only one who sees the justice in having a ceiling beam fall on her fucking head?

Or that the marriage should be more important than where it is held? Such 'traditions' are how organised religions get started: 1) I do it this way because my parents before me did. 2) Someone codifies it. 3) Someone else enforces the code under penalty. 4) It becomes organised, with non-followers killed, driven out, &c.

Why do you need a special wiccan badge? Is there a christian one, and a muslim one? Theist is theist.

Probably because most atheists see the average theist as an ignorant Christian and nonChristians would probably want to appear serarate from that.

Not necessarily "ignorant Christian," but the religious art depicted in the badge is definitely monotheistic Christianity in flavour. Kind of like monounsaturated fat. I'm definitively an ignorant non-monotheist.

Sure you are correct, but many Christians consider atheists to be ignorant as well, and some atheists try to distance themselves from Dawkins and other modern mouths of unbelief.

So, in all fairness, ignorance is a turd sandwich that we all take a bite out of from time to time. Some more than others regardless of their world views.

Another Dumb Fuck xtian kills her kid waiting for fucking jesus to heal him.

Alabama, where else. But the rest of the story is even worse.

http://apnews.excite.com/article/2011080...U3K80.html

Quote:AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - When Kay Burdette's 17-year-old son became sick with flu-like symptoms, the faithful mother chose the same prescription she has used for years: prayer.

This time, though, her son Jesse did not recover and Burdette was charged with manslaughter. She pleaded guilty to lesser charges and avoided prison, in part because authorities lost a tissue sample that was crucial to proving that her son died of bacterial pneumonia, which is treatable, rather than viral pneumonia, which generally isn't.

Pale, coughing and weighing only 130 pounds at the end, Jesse died in his mother's bed the night of March 19, 2008. His mom called a friend from their charismatic, non-denominational church, then her daughter. She never called 911 nor sought medical assistance.

"Because of my religious beliefs I trust in God to forgive my sins and for physical healing," she told investigators. "We're not discouraged ... from seeking medical help, but I chose to totally trust God for Jesse's healing. Jesse and I both prayed for his healing."

But this one got me.

Quote:Burdette had used prayer as an antidote since Jesse was little. Once, he bumped his head on a hearth and Burdette asked a fellow church member to pray for him. Soon, he was acting like nothing ever happened.

I bumped my head on a pipe while working under a sink and I swore a blue streak until I felt better, too. You see, that's what happens when you bump your fucking head. It hurts for a while and then it stops.

No means no, just because you are married does not mean she has to give it up every time you feel like having sex. I get your point about the military since I myself have served in the Marine Corp.

One thing we used to say is that freedom isn't free, the only way to realize that is if your ass is sitting in the thick of it taking enemy fire so that someone else could be back at home burning Korans and inciting the enemy to even greater violence. It's not just soldiers that are now targets of terrorist acts overseas, it's regular civilians who pay the price as well.

I served in the Navy for seventeen years. While that contract entitled the US Government to send me wherever it wanted (even into battle), it did not entitle the government to "take my body" at any time.

As for the marriage contract, I maintain the government should be out of the business of recognising marriages as legal vehicles. If the churches want to hold that marriage is a religious state, then fine. The government is prohibited in being entangled in religion.

If a person chooses to have a church ceremony, great for them, but it should have no meaning for the government. If that government feels there is an advantage to unions of adults, then they can regulate that separately from religious marriage.

Perhaps a minister can be required to read a "disclosure statement" for the contract of marriage to prospective brides and grooms, pointing out their faith takes away the freedom to say no by a wife, &c. Other contracts are required to be complete in their disclosures of the benefits and detriments of the contract before entering into it.

Warren Jeffs....Holy Child Molester...Found Guilty.

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/70016...abuse.html

Quote:SAN ANGELO, Texas — A Texas jury has convicted polygamist leader Warren Jeffs on child sexual assault charges in a case stemming from two young followers he took as brides in what his church calls "spiritual marriages."

The 55-year-old head of the Fundamentalist LDS Church stood stone-faced as the verdict was read.

The charges came after a massive 2008 raid of the church's remote West Texas ranch. Jeffs faces up to life in prison.

Let's hope they put him in a jail where he can be treated to a little bit of heaven each night for the rest of his fucking life.
