and a 8-10 story building rocking back and forth 6 feet or more at the top.

Easy to understand the terror people have of re-entering buildings during aftershocks if they've felt it sway that much . . . .

One of the taller buildings in Wellington (only around 22 stories, so short by world standards), has been known to make people on the upper floors seasick in a high wind.

It's designed to sway.

there's also footage of some of these swaying buildings subsequently collapsing . . . . .

Here's a cool map that shows all of the daily earthquakes around the world.  https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/...%3Anull%7D

You can get an earthquake policy on your house but the deductible is astronomical and the premiums are hefty.

45 should talk about Mexico deserving the earthquake because they produce rapists and wont pay for the wall.

Your propensity for standing atop dead bodies while crowing your politics is disgusting.

If the city were devastated, that to me would mean more than a dozen casualties by any standard, as tragic as they are.

Well, the dead count is over 100 and increasing as they sort through the rubble. The economic damage will be rather severe. But I'm more concerned with the possibility of up to 100 families losing one or both breadwinners, which is devasting in every sense of the word for a family.
