Mexico City devastated in 7+ quake

45 should talk about Mexico deserving the earthquake because they produce rapists and wont pay for the wall.

I could see Pat Robertson going into his 'they deserve it because they're sinners' bit.

Not surprising considering that it's built on fault lines and soft clay .

But none the less tragic . The south is getting pounded these days . Hurricanes and Earthquakes occur often . But sheer concentration of them is unusual .

With all due sympathy for the city, saying it is "devastated" seems like the usual exaggerated media nonsense. They have 9 million people there. If the city were devastated, that to me would mean more than a dozen casualties by any standard, as tragic as they are.

Well, the dead count is over 100 and increasing as they sort through the rubble. The economic damage will be rather severe. But I'm more concerned with the possibility of up to 100 families losing one or both breadwinners, which is devasting in every sense of the word for a family.

Houston was just devastated by a flood with a lot fewer deaths than Mexico City.

Devastation is not about buildings destroyed or lives lost in the disaster itself . One power plant can be destroyed or one water treatment plant can be taken out .And the effects it can have can be catastrophic . Cities are a complex human made ecosystems.
