Im not suggesting anyone waste resources. Most schools have each grade divided up into multiple classes. Just don't put the unvaxxed kid in the same class as the unvaxxable kid (if there even is one).

Do you read the posts you reply to?

Yeah, why?

I value freedom as well, CL. But, neglecting children is not a legal freedom we afford people in this country. We need to be sending a clear, non-negotiable, tough-love message to antivax parents; not giving them wiggle room to perpetuate a harmful and demonstrably false, anti-science conspiracy theory.

I'll tell you - I browse the BabyCenter forums from time to time, and I have seen this type of post multiple times:

"My son has his six month check up tomorrow and is supposed to get shots. What do you guys think I should do?! Should I not get him vaccinated?"

The last thing we should be doing is feeding into the paranoia by giving them special treatment.

Would the "all kids" include the unvaxxable kids who, due to having a compromised immune system, would have a bad reaction to the vaccine? They may be rare, but they have a damn valid reason to not have them.

Overall, I think that the best solution to the problem is to close the "personal belief" loophole, because the personal beliefs that prompt it seem to always be based on bullshit claims that have been debunked a thousand times over. I don't particularly relish the prospect of forcing people to do something that's physically painful, but I do believe in this case, forcing it is a necessary evil.

Apologies for the misunderstanding.  Of course we need to make exceptions for rare cases where there is a legitimate health risk associated with the vaccines.  I'm talking specifically about the anti-vax crowd.

I would have loved to have seen how that would work in the 1 room school house i was taught in . Or the fact we all had to shower in the same room .

I just don't think not vaccinating falls under child neglect. I mean, child neglect is a form of abuse and is a criminal act.

It's probably more an issue of public health. It might not strictly fall under the standards of abuse, but allowing your child to potentially become Patient Zero for an outbreak of a disease that's both potentially fatal and easily preventable (which, as I've stated in previous posts, has happened before) strikes me as being clearly bad parenting.

You're either trolling or completely ignorant about how diseases spread.

Not feeding your kid is neglect. Not providing clean drinking water to them is neglect. How in the fuck is failing to protect them (and others) from potentially lethal and easily preventable diseases anything less than neglect?

Every time a child dies because their parents can't be fussed to provide basic care, those parents should be up on charges for neglect, at a minimum.

If a person's child gets Polio, suffers, and then dies because they chose not to vaccinate them, you don't see that child as having been neglected?  It would be a 100% preventable death.

So to clarify, you guys really think choosing not to vaccinate your child should be a criminal offense?
