Yes, the frequent, and cowardly, atheist tag-team ploy!

Brian says it will blow up in Trump's face. I refute that. Second theist comes in and pretends like it was my concern initially.  Rolleyes

Wait, you were criticizing the players for lacking concrete proposals, not goals. They certainly have a goal, just as they Tea Partiers did. They certainly lack concrete proposals, just as the TPers did.

America was born in protest. Why do you find it so offensive?
So does that mean that the Confederacy was just a protest?

Protest = ways to voice frustration over something in your current government/country that you wish to see changed.

Protest =/= literally rebelling in a treasonous act of war to form your own government/country.

So no, the Confederacy was not a protest.  But you knew that already.

"Just" a protest? No, of course it wasn't "just" a protest. It was a nation founded in order to protect the institution of slavery, by war if need be. Surely you know the difference between a nation and a protest, right?

Right?

Please, read with your eyes and not your agenda. It'll help the conversation along. You may assume for the sake of this discussion that I, uh, you know, mean what I write. And it will not have escaped your notice that I did not write a single word about the Confederacy here in this thread.

Of course there's going to be a disparity of importance between flag protests, and hurricane relief, international tensions, and so on, depending on which person(s) have which responsibilities. I don't want President Trump mowing the South Lawn, either.

It only takes a few seconds to put out a tweet. There's nothing wrong with the president making some tweets promoting patriotism or devoting a few lines of a speech to it.

What he does not have the right to, as president, is demean the constitution. That, he is sworn to uphold, not shred to bits in a twitter tantrum.

And how is he demeaning the constitution?

Yep. Interesting that when Kaepernick saw unemployment headed his way, he changed his tune and said he would stand:

"Supporters of Kaepernick's protest, however, are accusing him of selling out by now saying he will stand for the anthem as he angles for a contract with a new team."

Employees don't have a constitutional right to free speech and continued employment. Do some reading:

Trump only does what Trump wants to do, and the only way he can be Trump is to ignore the constitution.
