Massachusetts ex-priest convicted in abuse scandal to leave prison

Fifteen years on, allegations of sex abuse continue to pour in against U.S. priests, with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops reporting that last year 911 new accusers levied credible charges against 463 priests. That represented more than double the number of credible accusers the prior year, an increase that reflected changed Minnesota laws on reporting past sex abuse, diocesan bankruptcies and increased public awareness following the 2015 Academy Award-winning film “Spotlight,” which recounted the Globe’s story.
The U.S. church last year paid out $141.3 million in settlements to accusers. Some 43 priests were defrocked last year, with another 111 allowed to remain priests but stripped over their ministerial duties.
Twelve U.S. dioceses have filed for bankruptcy since the scandal broke.

463 is not a handful.  Maybe if they grabbed fewer handfuls there would be fewer criminal cases?

Msgr. Arnel Lagarejos, 55, underwent inquest proceedings on Saturday afternoon for alleged violation of the Anti-Human Trafficking in Persons Act following his arrest around 6:30 p.m. on July 28 near Blue Wave Mall on Sumulong Highway in Barangay Sto. Niño.

He allegedly came to know the girl, an out-of-school youth, through a 16-year-old gay “pimp,” who was also arrested that same night

A Roman Catholic bishop who once led the Diocese of Phoenix has been accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a boy decades ago, according to a lawsuit filed in Arizona Superior Court.

The lawsuit alleges that in the late 1970s and early ’80s, the bishop, Thomas J. O’Brien, placed his hands on the boy’s thighs, kissed him on the lips and performed oral sex on him. A hearing connected to the case was held this week, drawing additional attention to the lawsuit, which was filed last year.

The Mormons are touchy about the topic, but there is a bunch of Mason stuff in Mormonism. IANMTU.

The Rev. Marcin Nurek, 37, was ordained into the priesthood on July 1 and had been expected to start Aug. 15 as Parochial Vicar of Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Mountain Lakes, the diocese's spokesman told NJ Advance Media.

However, diocesan officials reversed course after Nurek was charged Thursday with endangering the welfare of a child and criminal sexual contact.

He allegedly put his hand under the girl's skirt, touched her buttocks over her underwear and told her, "You're sexy," the Daily Record reported. The girl was described as over the age of 13, but under 16.

Masons?  Beats me.  I thought the RCC condemned them centuries ago.  They don't want anyone cutting in on their action.
