Quote:PHILADELPHIA Archbishop Charles J. Chaput apologized Saturday to victims of sexual abuse by the Catholic clergy and referred to "the negligence of the church's pastors" in allowing it to occur.
Quote:The Pennsylvania Catholic Conference, a powerful Harrisburg lobby led by Chaput, has opposed the bills, Rozzi said.
Hah! "We're sorry, but we ain't
that sorry!"
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Note that their only concern is that it might be "too soon" to canonize him. Apparently the stigma will wear off eventually.

If they make him the patron saint of child molestors, I'll have no problem.

I was going to ask what the GOP thought of that, but there's a link to their reaction:
not very happy. They miss the good old days, when the Church just bashed gays and told women to stay in the fucking kitchen and told poor people not to be so goddamn lazy. Or maybe I'm blurring the lines a bit, there.

Hmm....what's truly amazing is that a fuckwit like Ryan thinks there is a difference.
I'm amazed that he thinks that a system rife with corporate welfare is a "true free enterprise system."
