Roger Goodell sends letter to NFL teams

RE: Roger Goodell sends letter to NFL teams
Quote:The NFL is big business and relies on its fans' financial support. Evidently, the larger majority of its fans have spoken and the NFL has lost this dispute.
Without players the NFL does not have shit . And fans are addicts they will be crawling back . The NFL wins the moral victory . This just made football fans look like the cheering throngs of North Korea .

It depends on how principled the players really are. I suppose we'll see in the coming days.

This is fucking bat shit insane for far too much of America's population to not see what is going on.

This isn't just about NFL players. 45 started his vile WW2 Germany hyper national scapegoating political tactic 5 years ago, by perpetuating the evil outsider black guy. Then started his campaign by calling Mexicans rapists. Then called for a ban on an entire religion. Burned his way through the primaries torching other GOP candidates. Insulted the service of REPUBLICAN John McCain, and the service of a dead solder in Khan. Attacked sitting judges with no hint of impropriety, shit on the very intel he now has to rely on and attacks the free press, the very watchdog that keeps a check on power.

Attacking black NFL players is simply one more way 45 vilifies anyone who questions his power. 45 is not politics as normal. It is also insane that 50 former REPUBLICAN law agents warned of what his presidency could do.

Forced ritual are the demands of despots and dictators. 45 isn't "telling it like it is", he is bullying anyone and everyone who questions him. He is using racism and for anyone to claim he is not, there is no polite way to put it, you have your head up your ass.

Because there is nothing that spells patriotism like a bunch of muscle monkeys playing a game for big bucks.

Compared to whom? The owners are billionaires. FYI, it is a myth that every NFL player is a millionaire. The medium pay for a non star player is the mid 100,000. Very few are star players making multi millions. Most players only make several hundred thousand per year, and only spend 2 to 5 years in the league.

If you want something real to bitch about, that would be the OWNERS blackmailing cities, threatening to leave, pitting city against city to get new stadiums. The Giants/Jets never payed off the old stadium before they blackmailed NYC/ and New Jersey to get the new one built, OFF THE BACKS OF THE TAX PAYERS.

The league would be NOTHING without their labor. The league needs to, just like all big businesses, for that matter, all need to stop shitting on workers.

The players are not the problem. Our 36 years of Reagan's failed trickle down economics has been widening the pay gap. 45 has been using race to protect corporate welfare. Shitting on black pro sports players is simply one more tactic in 45s vile sale of white hyper nationalism.

A big problem is that the "fans" have no clue what is being protested.  Worse yet is that people like trump, his followers, or the so-call patriots in this country have narrowed meaning of the flag/national anthem down either freedom (broadly defined), the military, and now law enforcement or first responders.  So how the fuck can any murrican protest that?

The pledge of allegiance ends with "with liberty and justice for all".

Can anyone honestly say that everyone in this country lives with equal amounts of liberty and justice?  That is what Kaepernick's was protesting, and it was never about himself (the so-called spoiled rich man playing a game).

A true patriot keeps their country honest by being critical when its fucking up and not living up to its tenets.  Blind devotion is small minded and dangerous.

Holy lack of reading comprehension BATMAN!

It isn't about liking or not liking a pro sport. GO BACK AND RE READ........

YOU regardless of liking the sport are STILL AFFECTED. Why should tax payers be blackmailed into paying for buildings that 32 billionaires could pool their own money? TAX PAYERS, including those whom don't watch the sport.

SECONDLY and again, this is about ALL big businesses and the GOP and their long term shitting on labor, and using race and class to protect corporate welfare. The NFL is merely ONE big business, but not the only.

Walmart is another big offender. They will use the law of eminent domain, which was not intended for businesses, but for things like public schools, fire stations, police stations or highways, they use that law, to bully the middle class and working poor off of their property, then because they are so big, they will go into a local, and crush even mom and pop businesses.

And even with the NFL, I could give a shit less if you want to falsely assume 100% of 4,500 players are all millionaires, not true, most are NOT. But Million, is still a SMALLER NUMBER that BILLION. The owners are far richer regardless.

It amazes me how far too many in America are convinced that the top 1% have their best interest in mind. NO, they don't, they have their shareholders and CEOs in mind. If you value a pluralistic class system, a stable society, than you are a fool to simply blindly let the top do whatever it wants.

It still effects you because like it or not, you pay for the OWNERS stadiums through YOUR taxes, and you pay for their tax breaks. Just like you have to compensate for what companies like Exxon or Walmart don't pay in taxes. The money that the top does not pay adds up over years, and what they don't pay you and I have to make up for.

Billionaires DO NOT need more tax breaks. Billionaire sports team owners can pool their own profits to build their own buildings. They will not end up eating cat food if they pay their own way.

I have a mostly empty strip mall across my street, the middle section was a former grocery store. only 4 of the 12 units are being used. The former grocery store has sat empty for 8 years. You know why those units stay empty? Because the bank or real estate company that owns it, wont lower the rent, and they get to write off the losses for the empty unites as a tax write off. GUESS WHO pays for that? THE REST OF US.

THAT is the bigger picture, the players are being targeted by 45 as a vile political tactic to protect corporate welfare.

Yeah, all those empty seats around the league really sent a message! Rolleyes

The larger majority of the fans don't give a shit about the protests, or the anthem, or 45's version of patriotism one way or the other. They just want to watch the games.

Even without protest, when you talk about empty seats, they never want to ask something like "Why in the 1980s when the Saints sucked huge donkey balls, did they not go under?"

Well that is what corporate socialism looks like.

Even outside the NFL this is what big business has learned to do, pay lobbies to get congress to write laws that allow them to profit share when they win, and socialize the losses on the tax payers when they lose.

And it is why the strip mall across the street from me is mostly empty. Because the rest of us pay for them staying empty.

I agree most don't give a shit, but they SHOULD give a shit. If you are pissed at labor, and not the owners whom blackmail tax payers, you are missing the point.
