If anything these seem like pussy crunchy-granola Waldorf school costumes. I betcha those boys'd be smiling a lot wider in Iron Man and Hulk duds. Or just a good 'ole Count Dracula. Pirate's not so bad...although they've also been kind of made wussy lately.

1. Judging by the picture, I agree, though I can’t rule out the kid being of mixed racial/ethnic heritage. It’s an odd choice for a costume, so it wouldn’t surprise me if someone at Fox thought it would be fun or clever to use it to stir up some people.

2. Watermelon was a stereotypical trope often used to characterize black people in minstrel shows.

According to some of the comments in the article from the OP, it doesn't matter whether the boy is black, hispanic, or white. Apparently it would still be racially insensitive either way. You know, kind of like how it would be insensitive to have an Asian guy named Robert Lee call a sports game on national tv.

Why are watermelons even a costume? How lame is that.

Ok that kid is the cutest damn watermelon. How do we know he didn't choose to be a watermelon? Seriously...there is real racism to be worried about, I'm not studying a little kid in a watermelon costume.

Haha I thought he was cute. But...my parents seriously cut three holes in an old dog food bag and dressed me as a bag of dog food for Halloween once so what do I know about costumes lol

That is a cute kid....

Personally, I think there should be more outrage for the parents who let them dress their little girl, in whatever the heck that pink thing was!

I'm sorry, I think.....I mean, I'm not insulting your parents, they raised a lovely person in you, but a bag of dog food, really?  Wow.
Its funny but also kinda sad! :p

Oh but she was adorable, even if I didn't understand her costume (slime???).  My kid makes slime, with glue and boraz, but I don't get how that was slime.  I thought at first she was a pink poop emoji, rofl.  All the same, she was so happy to be up there, just cute as a button, seriously.
