No Minn, they are still part of human history. I would simply say they should be seen as mythology not reality. I wouldn't want the Pyramids or Greek Acropolis blown up like the Taliban blew up the statues of Buddha. 

I would argue that theists don't need their old bad guesses, but I also would not want to erase history, just learn from it.

Minn, I would agree that the state of the middle east is far too much still far to dogmatic and tribal. But back then, even in polytheism, worldwide, humans of every religion, sought guidance from their respective god/s to guide them in battle in defeat of their enemies. Even in Greek and Roman mythology they had "war Gods". The Egyptians prayed to their deities to help them to defeat their rivals too.

What you said was that you didn't want the pyramids or Acropolis blown up as the Taliban did to those Buddha statues.  Ironically, the Acropolis was blown up thanks to the Turks storing ammunition in it.  But it was still from an lucky Venetian artillery round and not a result of the Turks worshiping it.


In any case, I see no similar value to those books of ancient horseshit.  Given a chance they would gladly burn the books of other sects themselves.

Mo, God bless him tried his best to promote Islam peacefully, he soon realised that he needed to kill people to spread the word so that's the path he went down.

The only half good thing about Islam IMO is that God judges you upon deeds, none of this Jesus scapegoat crap. Jesus was just another prophet and didn't get to ride the winged horse.

Atlass, I am glad you value peace, I am also glad you value non violence but no, I do not think you need your Koran or any religion to value that.

In fact, just like Christians and Jews, I think this religious sense of entitlement is causing all three to needlessly dig in and  cause a self fulfilling prophesy. I wish my fellow humans would stop thinking their clubs explain the meaning of life, and I wish they'd stop thinking their respective clubs are the center of everything.

I'd love to see everyone live in peace and focus on things like pollution, climate change and global poverty.

I really cannot buy claims of any god of any name on a planet older than our species in a universe even older than our solar system.

Humans DO have a great potential to value empathy and non violence, when we chose, I simply do not see any need to fill our goodness in as being magically handed down to us.

This. I also see the that this is the way for us to focus on our lives; moving on and hanging to what our own selves would hit as a destination. Peace is good for all.
