Rik, you as clueless about evolution as much as you are clueless about other aspects of reality.
There is no goal in evolution. No climb up a ladder toward some ultimate being.
Evolution is only 'concerned' with the ability to survive and reproduce. Any current extant organism or species, is just as 'ultimate' as any other, because it has survived and continues to successfully reproduce.
It may very well end up being, that the aspects of our species, that we are so proud of, may actually end up being our evolutionary undoing.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

living a life on earth.

Physical life is hard so in order to make it bearable and tolerable we can time by time have a tiny tiny bite of the carrot (sex, food and so on).
The good news however is that once we reach the final destination we will be free from carrying the heavy load and have all the carrot.
That imply that the pleasure will come from the top not from the very bottom and obviously be enormosly bigger that the pleasure coming from the sex.
I guess you never though about that Khem, did you?
