The thing is, there is no real accurate measure of intelligence. And besides, even though high exam scores and high IQ test scores and all that stuff certainly correlates with intelligence . . . it also correlates with not being lazy and actually bothering to put the work in. So it could just as easily be evidence towards atheists being less lazy. I myself don't even have one exam completed . . . which is due to a combination of anxiety and laziness (and gigantic amounts of boredom), and doesn't really have anything to do with how incredibly stupid I clearly am.

So the article looks to be legit though I agree with Hammy about the elusiveness of defining intelligence. So if we define intelligence as reliance on modes of analysis which do not account for magic, then probably non-god belief is going to score higher. Of course GIGO still applies, garbage in garbage out. We're not privy to many details about the original investigations.

1. the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills.
wow.. now take a step out side your little box and ask from where or to whom are the measure of those skills and knowledge? Are they universal or are they regionally specific. and even in a given region is this measure of intelligence universal or does it only apply to thos whom have been taught to think a certain way?
We it is defiantly regional as intelligence does not always cross international boarders. for instance a MD in North Korea could not be certified as a doctor in the US unless he went though US training first.
So yes regional standards do apply. but are they universal? Meaning is everyone welcome in to your club just because they are from your area? No. one could observe that oly certain people who have been to certain schools meet this standard with in a given soceity.
Which goes back to what I said...
Intelligence is a measure of a given regions level of indoctrination.

No. Just no. You're thinking of education. Allow me to educate you.
Of course, some of them are born stupid as well.
You can be educated badly, and taught the wrong things, but that has nothing to do with how intelligent or smart you are.
People aren't stupid because they believe stupid things. People believe stupid things because they are stupid.
See the definition of intelligence that was previously posted. Intelligence is a measure tied to education.
The measure you are describing is wisdom which is measured apart from education.

TBH I think that was a bad definition.
Intelligence is an overall capacity to understand things. Intelligence is innate comprehension ability.

Nah, the point is that intelligence is innate and you can be taught things that you are too dumb to really understand. Education is about knowledge, and you don't have to be smart to know stuff. All knowledge requires is memory. Memorizing facts doesn't make you smart. Understanding them makes you smart.

If that were true, that would make you an übergenius. I think we both know we don't live in that universe.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Yup.
Well, unless the dictionary changed the definition of "intelligent" to "batshit crazy."

So here's my advice to xtians who are so quick to abuse and accuse atheists of being "morons" or "stupid". It is more likely that you are so please stop the personal abuse.
Does the study specify whether this is because of or in spite of your data point?
