I got a 500$ tax cut. I'm single man who makes less than 24 000 a year with no dependants. Basically for me it's all about raising the standard deduction, which means that I'll never have to pay federal taxes in my life, since my life isn't about making money and I don't plan on making that much money really.

For the record, for the working poor, like me, 500 dollars is a huge amount of money. I can go on a month long climbing trip with it.

It's going to work out being about $10 a week, assuming that site is accurate, but I doubt it is. If so, I won't notice it.

A lot of it is going to depend on how the loss of some deductions and personal exemptions are going to affect my state income taxes. Given that my AGI is going up by close to $15K, I'm not optimistic.

Given that we're either going to need to make deep austerity cuts, or pass on a shit-ton of deficit spending and debt to generations that follow. I consider it blood money, frankly.

Forgive me for being skeptical, but your lifestyle is not exactly typical of 'working poor' - but I'm sure they're glad you're here to speak for them.

Thats true enough. Im a pretty atypical example of a poor person in the U.S. insomuch as i dont pay rent, have a college degree and choose to live this way. Regradless I am the working poor, even if i actually don't work for much of the year, technically homeless and well below the poverty line. I just happen to choose to live that way, in order to persue a lifelong passion of mine. Why more people dont live this way, i have no idea. Presumably that 500 bucks means just as much to other poor people as me. Just in a different way.

Meaningless when the country slips into recession, of course.  And when the republicunts start fucking with Medicare to pay for these tax cuts for rich cocksuckers it will be a net loss.

In Catholicism married couples are not supposed to deny each other of sex unless there is legitimate reason. "I'm not in the mood", is usually not a good enough reason unless there is something else going on. Otherwise, if you're simply just not feeling horny, try harder. For your spouse.

Also, I went to a Catholic high school and it seems that the sin is in not being open to the possibility, at least, where the Church is concerned. Sex for pleasure seems to be fine as long as you're prepared for the possibility that it'll result in a child in nine months.

Though you are correct about the second part. Catholics use timed abstinence during the fertile time of the month as birth control when trying to avoid pregnancy. You don't have to be trying to have a baby every time you have sex. That's just Jehanne spreading more ignorance and misinformation about Catholicism.

I was raised Catholic in a very conservative perish, and our CCD teacher (who was 60 and an annunciated virgin to Christ) absolutely taught us that sex was for procreation only. I'm not sure that timed abstinence was ever brought up, but if you weren't trying to make more Catholics, it was a no go. She also taught us Mary and Joseph remained virgins their whole marriage. Lolzwat?

Talk about backwards sex ed. Who needs elderly virgins telling you when to fuck? So while most Catholics don't follow what the Church is preaching, Conservative Catholics definitely belive that. Timed abstinence, I had religious Catholic neighbors in College, they told me they used that. They also were in their 20s and had 5 kids. They were exactly religious conservatives either.

Most people are Atheist forums talk as though the Church is something with uniform beliefs, but it's a massive number of people, and there are branches of Catholicism that disagree with each other, on a wider scale and down to individual parishes. So I sort of take issue with it when people say that Catholics do or say this. Or when you sometimes do the same thing. Most Catholics just use birth control, condoms and the pill and 84 % have no moral objection to birth control. The bunch of creepy old virgins at the head of the Vatican can say what they want, but people are going to use birth control.
