What you are doing now, will be better understood and exposed to the world in general in the near future, and the authorities will take the right action against the likes of you, but at the moment you are enjoying the life of an abuser.

That's a rather serious accusation.  It could apply to any of us, you and me included.  Suffice to say that you do not inspire me to want to become Christian.

Why, may I ask?

Er. Cause I am an atheist. I came to this conclusion some time ago after a lot of thought about it. Your telling me "God is great!" isn't going to convince me that God exists. It's just not my thing. If it's yours great! I believe in science and the natural world. I do not believe in God, I think it's a preposterous belief.

I have never not believed in God, so I can't identify with you there, but I have tested God on many occasions to see if he would communicate or react to my requests. I have been elated many times with the results. Only a few professed believers practice actual communication with God. In ancient Israel that ratio was at one time 1:32,000.

I think what SH is saying is that one arrives at religious truths without critical thinking, much the same way that a baby is produced without critical thinking. What his proposition fails to recognize, however, is that critical thinking prevents error by subjecting all ideas to scrutiny.  Critical thinking isn't about producing an idea. It's about finding the right idea. He thinks critical thinking is like "inventing" or "giving birth to" ideas-- no. It's a process whereby an idea's validity is tested.

IMO (assuming that I have correctly interpreted SH's statement) it is a bad analogy.

Thanks. I guess I didnt think hed be this clueless. Hence, the confusion.

It's actually the precise opposite of that:

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Except for the ones that die young, and in pain, despite being a christian with christian family members?

A really good video, thanks.
It confirms what I thought. It's the great humanistic pill that nearly all will swallow...
It counts on two things, that the human mind is the ultimate criterion for knowledge and understanding, and that society will determine what clear thinking is.
It also finishes beautifuly with the ideaology of the "collective future."

Wow, thanks for that, I'll be sharing it right away with people who know what the future holds.
