The benefits of being christian. Where are there???

Criticism is essential to rational discourse; it's how we learn by having our ideas challenged and subjected to scrutiny. It's why science is so effective.

Mockery can be valid when all other forms of debate are ignored and an honest dialogue is not occurring.

Where is the science in asking me if I know what an atheist is?

Only a stupid person would ask this if they indeed knew I was speaking to a specific person in a specific situation In this case the person acknoweledging God foregoing any claims to atheism. OR the other reason that person would ask such a seemingly nonsensical question, would be that he builder of straw men. trying to red herring me off topic.

That is a pet peeve of mine.

Just because I am taking your buddy to task on something he believes does not give anyone the right to try and swoop in and save his friend without me firing back a few rounds to draw attention to the mindless/thoughtless (or retarded) way you people attack. Meaning In this case I pointed to the obvious to try and make the 'savior' look at stupid as possible for coming at me in such a lazy way.

This makes the lazy person step up their game or bow out. either way my "scrutiny" challenges the person to strive to reach the bar that i have set rather than dewell in the dirt and mud most of you like to sling around in.

And mockery is a good tool to goad lazy minded people who can indeed do better into action.

Just look what you came up with and you were not even in the conversation.

I wasn't mocking. I was commenting about you with serious distaste. Your fruits stink is what I'm saying. Try working more on your delivery as a Christian because you're always coming off as nasty and unpleasant. Pretty sure Jesus didn't expect any of his disciples to be like this.

Judas got Jesus nailed on the cross. And Jesus loved it.

Drich, I wish upon you the worst possible life that you can imagine.  I gave you a chance to apologize, and you dropped the ball, pissed on it, and tried to kick it back in my face.

You will never receive a second chance from me to make that apology.  May suffering be your reality from this point forward.

Hey, retard. I was speaking to an individual who acknowledged God and ask me to relay a question to Him. Your word does not apply here. Why because if a person says ask God "x" he can't pretend he is Atheist.

I didn't acknowledge god. I merely tested your claim to be able to ask god direct questions and receive answers from him/her/it/housecat. You failed miserably. As did your "god".

How fucking dare you accuse me of lying, you insufferable little bastard!

The point is that I got lasting results that changed my life for the better, including saving myself from a potentially lethal situation, and did it with the power of my imagination.

Apologize now, contritely and without any qualifiers or reservations, or may your own faith turn into an emotional blight that poisons everything it touches in your life until the faith itself is gone.

Did you actually pray to a dragon? Really? Unless you actually did pray to any of those gods from dead religions and/or pet dragon then it sounds a bit disingenuous to speculate about getting the same life changing results as you could from Christian piety. Maybe you did but I can hardly blame Drich for being skeptical.

not much of a bible reader huh?

Jesus was exceptional hard on his disciples and even harder still on those who opposed his ministry. He call them names like petros (unstable ground) He called them fools and foolish. he made fun of there inability to comprehend based on their lack of desire to push beyond their current understandings.

To the pharisees and Sadducees he was even harder. blasphemous even. That is why He was nailed to the cross because he was not a respecter of douche bags who see themselves higher than what they should.

That is the Jesus of the bible. but you don't know of this jesus do you. nuupe you only know of the modern religious holier than thou bs. a standard not even the recorded Christ Himself could ever reach, as his righteous indignation would not allow willful simpltons to cast their shadows upon the truth of God.

It's one thing if you truthfully do not know and ask a question. it is another completely if you do not care and seek to disrupt or just blindly push your version of God on to people.

Don't get me wrong Christ indeed taught with the carrot (with those who knew no better) but for those who pretend to or sought to test or correct Christ he taught using the stick the whole way through.

Again, that is what god his killed. He embarrassed the jewish leadership sooo much they fear rebellion of the people as it seemed Christ knew God far and away better than any of them did, and they were the standing authority.

Now how else would a proud atheist react when I tell them all of what they know of God is wrong? Will they be happy for the correction?

Again, explain how.

IF you can't explain how "we" failed it would seem you are claiming a hollow victory which means nothing.

It like me claiming I flew across the Atlantic in a plan that I personally built at home. and then you say nut-huh... I explain in greater detail and leave proof of the deed in question, and again all you have to say in nut-huh.

If I failed to deliver you being that orical of what is in your mind and heart should very easily shoot down everything I had to say.

Otherwise know your not fooling anyone.

I don't think she is smart enough to understand the nature of my repsonse.

In that I do not necessarily dismiss here 'false gods' I simply point out there are typically two sources or reason why people follow false gods. One society give gods their powers meaning say in ancient Greece if you did not give tribute to God "x" your crops could be destroyed by followers of god "X" and that destruction may seemed supernatural even if it was of a natural result. in that society simply attributes various blessings and calamities to various gods giving those gods power, but only so long as society decides to support them.

Powers source two we find in the bible that Principalities familiar spirits and demons have powers as well and can and have indeed fooled 'would be prophets.' Thus giving power to that religion.

I did not say to the lady that she had found a false meaning powerless religion as she would think a false or powerless religion would work. I simply pointed that her religions have been cnsidered false because the soceity that supported them no longer do or the demonic power source has also abandoned those religions. That is why I say people in general are not stupid. even if they are being fooled they know when something is there (even if the can not identify it as soceity or demonic) they know there is a power at play and when the power leaves.

Now for her (AST) in her situation I'm saying either she in her little world/soceity is supporting these gods or there is a demonic force giving power to these names again.

Now if she were smart enough to get what I was saying and not simply fly off into a descendant of a rage monkey rant trying to rain down curses on me she might point out or even ask how is it that I could possible know where or not it was society or a demon propping up Christianity... Then I could answer her, however I feel the discussion would be far lost on her as she decided to play the P/C emotion card rather than sticking to fact and evidence.

Correction?  It's absolutely equal to telling me that everything I know about the Tooth Fairy is wrong and then getting all bent out of shape when I say that the story I was told was that she wears a tiara and carries a wand.  God is fiction.
I didn't acknowledge god. I merely tested your claim to be able to ask god direct questions and receive answers from him/her/it/housecat. You failed miserably. As did your "god".   I have most of the Bible memorized, I was raised Pentecostal.  I quote the book because it's the "authority" for most xtians.  But the Bible means nothing and proves nothing.  It's an ancient compilation of bronze age fables.  If you claim to get direct messages from God, the only "proof" that most atheists will accept will come from scientific testing, or actual video and audio (preferably multiple examples) that is corroborated by impartial witnesses.  No old fables, no personal fantasies, no cobbled-together fanciful stories or unconfirmed "miracles" - actual proof.  Which no theist who has ever logged in to this site or any other has provided to date.

No, I've actually never been able to genuinely pray to anything.  I've never been capable of generating religious faith because of an inability to perceive anything on the other end of the line.

I have, however, found it useful to temporarily divide my thoughts into "self" and "other," use a fictional character for the "other," and imagine what sort of advice it would give me. "_____, what do you think I should do?"  My best guess is that using a second persona opens a channel to my unconscious mind, much as with flow-of-consciousness journalling, and helps me brainstorm solutions that are not obvious to my conscious mind.

And it works very well, even when I know that the other voice is based on a fictional character.  As I alluded to earlier, I believe that it literally saved my life when I was confronted with an ex-spouse who was uttering death threats. I was too scared and conflicted to act, but when one of my "advisers" told me to get the hell out of there, STAT, it mobilized me and possibly prevented a murder-suicide.

What this showed me is that for me at least, gods don't have to be real to be effective in people's lives.  They just have to be archetypes that I can call upon.  This was the very point that I was trying to make before Drich accused me of dishonesty and I went to Defcon 2.

In fact, my method might be even more effective than praying to gods -- Knowing that I am fantasizing, I also know that it's all on me and not up to some supernatural agent to make things happen in the real world.

It's okay for Drich to be skeptical.  His rudeness, however, was completely uncalled-for and I am not interested in cutting him any slack on this.  I simply do not forgive people who accuse me of lying.
