Atheist and Christian Forums

RE: Atheist and Christian Forums
I was at religious forums for a while.
Strange, I found that I could respect, or at least keep quiet, about x-tian, muslim and hindu views, to a degree, but the pagans and satanists got on my goat.
Plus, the jokes had to be clean.
It just got a little boring.

You know, on second thought maybe I'll forgo registering on WLC's forums. I've seen nothing but piss poor reviews in this thread. It also sounds like they are a bunch of hardened apologists--not people who want to have a discussion.

(Fun fact: one of my philosophy professors debated WLC. His name is Austin Dacey. It's posted on youtube. Check it out. I think he kicked WLC's ass.)

Catholic Answers Forum always has a handful of atheist posters from what I remember. You can have discussions and debates there so long as you are respectful. If they get the sense that you're just on there to troll at/bad mouth Christianity, they will ban you.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Why bother going to them,  when they constantly come here?

If they want debate,  they can have that here.

Well, how many times have Christians come here saying stupid stuff?  "Why do atheists love homosexuality?  How do you support your baby-eating ways, logically?" and so on.

That's because they're getting their information from poor sources.  I'd suggest the same goes for Christianity.  To really understand where they're at, you should immerse yourself in their culture, attempt to interact with them on their own turf.  See what they say when they have the confidence that comes with numbers.

This is good for honing debating skills-- you can't win a debate easily if you don't really know what your opponent is likely to say.

Most of us here have come from a religious background, so there's always that. Being realistic, the only way any debate is going to happen is if it's here because it's already been said that those christian forums make it impossible for non-believers to actually have a voice if the non-believer tries to speak up.

So far it's been a test of patience. I'm looking at threads where everyone is piling on about how great the Republican tax cuts are. I think you may have a point about better debate happening here, Joods. One thing I'd like to do, as a side point is address some people's misunderstanding about atheism. So even if there is little logical debate to be had, I can at least say some sensical things on behalf of atheists.
