Until then, it;s very obviously one of those reasons™ that have been used to con people into pulling the lever against their own interests.

The same observation can be made in the reverse....that a person who votes d because they want to see military spending decreased.  Well, maybe d's should make that more clear to their reps....because dems keep signin that check, don't they?

I mostly agree. The shittiness there tends to be fairly bipartisan.

RE: Conservative and Gay
We're asked to choose between two sets of neo-liberal corporate shills.  One hates minorities with the intensity of a thousand desert suns....the other is certain that if they signal their difference in that regard we might not notice that they are otherwise entirely identical. That's what happens when one party chases the nutball vote and the other goes off hunting a shifting middle ground that has never existed as anything more than the difference between themselves and nutballs on any given day.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

During the Reagan years we had a group of gay conservatives named "Log Cabin Republicans". They are still active. Their name activates my imagination in weird ways!

Yeah. I've just always found it bizarre that this group of people define themselves primarily by what kind of hole they want to stick their penis in, and this guy said the same thing.

IDK that anyone would be "defining themselves" as anything had they not at some point been discriminated against because they were different.

So the fuck what? Nobody is denying this is not a possibility. But to the sane that is like women being for burkas.

The further back in time you go the more hostile to minorities such as backs, and women, and LGBT were, not to mention still today, there are those who hate progress and want to keep the bigotry of the past.

I think it is stupid to side with your abuser and no damned paycheck is worth siding with immoral religious based bullshit bigotry.

But even if there were no religion, "fuck you I got mine" was never good economic policy and trickle down HAS FAILED.

Just stop defending the GOP, they FUCKING SUCK and 45 SUCKS.

I met one of them in '16. Interesting guy.

Only thing gay means is attracted to the same biological sex. Many of the ones in this gay neighborhood of mine are, for instance, transphobic, racist, for small governments, etc.

Interesting how the last election (in my mind) brought out many permutations of Political stance. Truly 31 flavors. Too bad this hasn't led to much third party momentum. It almost seemed like it would.
