Names.

RE: Names.
I have a ton of nicks on the internet. I'll not divulge many, but Fireball figures in most atheist sites. I post at a couple of wood working places as <undisclosed>. I've mentioned some history of the papacy and the RCC in general when someone posed a question, so my handle there may as well be MUD, since they tend to be quite religious at wood working sites. Not sure what that is about. If you ask me a question, I'll give an answer. If hey-soos christobal is your buddy, you're not going to like my answer. meh

If I had thought about it, I would have changed my last name to "Sir". Would have made for interesting times in the Navy, since I was enlisted.

I looked through my wallet, and couldn't find that anywhere. Your god apparently cannot even get a driver's license right.

What a dumbfuck.

A rose and all that, but what do you think? How do you feel about your name? Do you have a nickname?

I’ve been looking for mine for a while and nothing seems to stick.

Personally I prefer your original username... and I'd just learnt how to spell it correctly before you changed it Wink... well, nine times out of ten anyway Wink

RE: Names.
I misunderstood thinking you, Longhorn, were looking for a shorter nickname.

This was the first forums I ever posted at and I've always used the same user name here and at subsequent sites I've visited. This username of mine, whateverist, is meant to convey that I'll believe whatever there is the best reason to believe. Not wed to atheism, that's just where things stand. (So not the flippant, dismissive "whatever man" idea.)

My given first name is Mark and unlike so many of my peers growing up I never felt a need to choose my own name. There were almost always at least two Marks in any class growing up, but it isn't as popular now. My five younger siblings always began by calling me "Mokey". When I was teaching I was Mr. D. Happy to just be Mark again.

I think that I have published it before, but my first name is Steven. That was pretty popular in the '50s, and IIRC, there were 5 or 6 Stevens and 2 or 3 Davids in many of the grades when I was that age. Calling "Steven" or "David" out across a playground got a lot of heads turning, I can assure you!

Thump- you video doesn't work for me.

I forgot Crane Legs. It was a tennis net thing, no jumping required.

Real name: Judith. Hate it and will attempt to kill anyone who calls me that, with a death stare. It was a name my mother gave to me. I haven't spoken to her in 8 years now, for good reason.

Nicknames: Joods - given to me by Steel. I love it. I feel like it really fits me.

Usernames: I've used several. Wouldn't have picked them if I didn't like them.

Middle name: Lynn. I do like it a lot. My second daughter has it for her middle name as well so it has a very special meaning to me.

My last name. I love my maiden name. Glad to be part of Italian heritage and I had a wonderful bond with my dad. I miss him a lot.

RE: Names.
My mother seems to have cursed me. She had her mind set on a name for me before I was born, but my grandfather didn’t particularly like it, so she went with another option.

I have hated my name with a fiery passion ever since I was little. It didn’t help that no one called me that, nobody at home. They used a diminutive version that sounds completely different. The full name was reserved for people outside, who didn’t know me. That made it feel official and deepened the rift between who I felt I was and what people called me.

I’ve had maybe two nicknames. Only in elementary school and not used widely or often.

Online I’ve been too many things to count. Always changing and always inconsistent.

I used to want to change my name to my middle name but that was in preschool when I had a crush on a girl with that same name, coincidentally the name my mother had intended for me to have.

I’ve been looking. I guess something will feel right when I finally feel right one day.
