What profits?  Remington just went belly up. It's political, not economic..that's how tools like our buddy there find themselves making silly noises with their mouth in line with their party's propaganda. The NRA is a powerbroker that nurtures a wedge issue, not a commercial lobby. The campaign contributions are maintenance on the investment in public policy necessary to provide for their continued existence as powerbrokers.

Holy crap, one company does not an entire industry make. There are still plenty of firearm companies making a killing even without Remington.

What needs to happen is for the  families of the victims of firearm deaths to be able to sue the shops and the makers for failure of proper vetting.

That's not going to happen, so put the ire where it belongs.  A government that doesn't enforce it's gun laws, and a public facility that failed to provide a safe environment for children.  You can;t get into a capital building without passing under a medical detector.  Fuck, I can't pay a parking ticket without going through one.  If we're not interested in creating a safer society through other means..then they could at least pony up the cash to put a little arch over the doorway.

Even A theist here would like to see this stop..but don't expect him to admit that his political affiliation is the main culprit in front of a bunch of libs. He knows it's true, and he knows his nonsense about video games is bullshit, and he knows that no one is going to somehow tackle all of human nature. We all know this. So do legislators. Florida locks up "pure evil" of the non criminal no-victim kind all day everyday...but don;t hold your breath for him to break the party line either. How would they signal to the proles who they're supposed to vote for? How do they backtrack on every thing they've said for decades about "the problem"? No, far better to offer thoughts and prayers and let the dems do all the obfuscation for them, because hur dur corporations make guns. That way, in case you missed it..they get to virtue signal again and their political opposition paints itself into an unwinnable corner. The dems know it too..but hey, any opportunity to distance their brand from the other guys brand. Does it matter that they know full well that their own gun control programs don;t work? Nah..because it tells their proles who to pull the lever for.

Fuck rawstory and fuck Kimmel. Arguing gun control doesn't answer the underlying question as to why anyone would even act out to commit murder. There's a culture of violence in this country that's been partially created by Hollywood and the gaming industry among other influences. There's been a deterioration of morals and self discipline among the youth with no fear of consequences. Like minded Jack Asses like you with your Fucking Cops threads and your radical disdain for lawful order only works to encourage a continued culture of violence here.

No I haven't forgotten. Violence has been the history of this world's cultures past and present. But now Hollywood, social media, the gaming industry, our news outlets has brought this culture of violence into our own living rooms. Our youth these days don't seem to grasp the consequences for their actions. There's a lacking of morals and self discipline.

But now Hollywood, social media, the gaming industry, our news outlets has brought this culture of violence into our own living rooms. Our youth these days don't seem to grasp the consequences for their actions. There's a lacking of morals and self discipline.

There are a number of social issues and poor philosophies which I think are mostly to blame. That is largly what has changed. Look at how quick many throw a tantrum and become unhinged at the slightest offense.

-When sandy hook happened and we did nothing..literally nothing..that would address something like sandy hook....the gun control debate as a debate about how to control guns was over.  Caput.  Strangled in it's crib.  What we do now is conform to the status quo of political theater.

Now it;s not about guns. It;s about "kids these days", and "morals"..."poor philosophies" and "social issues" and "corporations". Jesus christ it sounds like a campaign rally.

Meanwhile, Sessions DOJ is reducing the amount of funding for gun control measures already on the books and further de-fanging the ATF through personell fuckery.  OTOH, he asked for extra funds to expedite assault rifle and machine gun permitting.

Like I said during the aftermath of the Sutherland Church shooting, it's like the Republicans have a vested interest in this shit happening over and over again. To quote my old post:

Let's face it; the way I see it, the Republicans have something of a vested interest in keeping mass shootings going. If we have people killing each other with assault rifles, it's a sign of moral decay within America. And, naturally, since the Republicans are all about crowing about moral decay, they can claim they have the cure: the agenda they've already been pushing. And, of course, since restricting sales on guns would likely have an effect on the number of civilian gun massacres America sees every year, it's in their best interest to keep the train rolling, and if they can keep things going by shifting the conversation elsewhere and blame anyone but themselves, it makes it all the better for them. Or it could just be that several jackasstic lines of thinking within conservative thought (such as it is) are converging to create a situation where they just keep happening, the people in power do to something refuse to do anything, and they can just pat themselves on the back for it.

The mere fact that this is actually plausible (and that the least plausible part involves the Republicans actually having an agenda that they claim could stop it) speaks volumes to how fucked up we are as a country.
