I've not read the book, but I agree with the snippets you gave. This obsession with wanting to label atheists who don't make counter claims of belief "just agnostics" is annoying. It's not so much because they want to use different words for the same thing; I'd be fine with it if that's all they were doing. It's because when people do this, they almost always seem to think they've made some point or won an argument by doing so.

That's my experience anyway.
