It's only happened a couple of times but when my cat gets in a mood, spanking her only led her to hiss at me threateningly. It's best to let her calm herself down on her own in those instances.
I would never hit an animal. My oldest son kicked Pickles two years ago and Pickles never forgot that. Now if you walk into a room and you accidentally startle him, he hisses at you and runs behind the couch. He was really traumatized by what T did and I think it happened more than once.
After we sent T back to his birth mothers house two months ago, Pickles has been trying to be more friendly with us. Slow progress is still progress. We'll take what we can get.
