There are all kinds of stories about people being killed because they want to marry someone the parents don't approve of, or because they want to stop following the religion or something, so I don't see much good coming out of honor killing. Even with the example in the OP, we already have debates over whether the death penalty is moral or not, regardless of the crime.

The way I see it, if you can't bear to live without your "honor", and you feel someone needs to die for it, the only life you have the right to take is your own. Leave other people alone.
