Even if you are correct about Trump's phrasing, the context completely destroys your argument. In the quote he clearly claims that the post office isn't making money from this deal. If they aren't making money, then they are either just breaking even, or are losing money. There's no other option. The next sentence, he says that "they lose a fortune". When the entire tweet is considered as a whole, the meaning is pretty clear. Trump is claiming that the post office isn't making any money from the deal with Amazon, but is instead actually losing money.

My point is, even if he is claiming that the post office would benefit from a better deal, he's also claiming that the current deal isn't making them any money, and they are losing money. That is just not true.

The post office is losing money overall.  And an allegedly significant part of that is the shit deal with Amazon.

Again, going back to poker, if you're losing money overall.  And you're barely over breaking even with AA and KK, I would say the money you're losing playing Aces and Kings poorly is why you are losing money.  And someone who doesn't think that way would say "No, he's making money with Aces and Kings.  You're wrong." 

I'll concede this.  I think Trump's characterization, while accurate to someone like me, is probably being wrongly interpreted by many of Trump's supporters, and Trump doesn't mind.   

I also don't mind, because the substance is that the POA should be making more money off their deal with Amazon.  And the rest is just political games.

I wasn't crazy about the way the tax deal went down.  The top income brackets didn't need their rates lowered.  I also liked Trumps hedgefund talk in the primaries.  But that'd have needed help from the Democrats to make it into the legislation.  And rather than do their jobs and try to get concessions on behalf of their constituents, they decided to not participate at all for political purposes.  That gave all the political power to the far right, and we got a lot of stupid shit.  Which doesn't bother the democrats in power, because they and all their donors are all rich, and will happily benefit from the stupid shit along with the republicans and their donors.

But in general on corporations.  When you look at Tariffs and renegotiating trade deals.  And even immigration.  Trump is doing things that hurt corporations by removing sources of cheap labor.  And at the same time, he lowers corporate tax rates in america and says "Hey, since slave labor in china isn't as profitable anymore, maybe come hire some Americans back home in our new friendlier tax environment."

I've already pointed out that there is a law which prevents the post office from losing money from these deals. The deal was also reviewed by an independent commission and approved. This has nothing to do with overall profitability.

You can't make a statement like that without knowing what the player's other hands were, and more importantly, what the other players had when you have AA and KK. If you have AA and everyone else has shit, even if you slow play them, you aren't going to convince someone to go for a large pot if all they have is high card or a pair. Similarly, if 99% of your other hands were rubbish, and you are terrible at bluffing, then you are losing money because you are terrible at bluffing, not just because you play AA and KK badly. Good poker players don't sit around and lose money hoping that they get AA or KK. Good poker players can turn a shit hand into gold.

Could the post office make more money off the Amazon deal? Certainly. However that's not the reason they are losing money overall, because they are actually profitable in that area. No business should point to its profitable area as a problem, when they are losing money in another area.

Trump is lying when he says that the post office is losing money from the Amazon deal. They aren't. They are actually making money. Whether they could make more money from it is entirely separate from the fact that they are actually making money from it. Trump is lying, plain and simple. You are twisting his words in a laughable attempt to make it seem like he has some kind of advanced understanding, when he just doesn't. He's lying. It's OK if you support the President, I don't particularly care, but you can't be taken seriously as a Trump supporter if you don't admit the guy lies, because at that point you're just deluding yourself.

The post office is making a mint off amazon.  One wonders what they would do without amazon.  It's not like we send letters snail mail anymore.  

Claiming that the post offices loses money by signing bulk contracts is akin to claiming that sams club loses money by refusing to sell individual single service ketchup packets.  They decided they;d rather collect x-x% off a ton of packages than not deliver x-x packages.  Fed ex and ups still provide more of amazons shipping than the usps, and without the deal their share of that hugely lucrative market would be even smaller.  

That...would be the usps losing money on amazon. Business 101, and isn't president good brain supposed to be an expert on bidness?

Seriously dude, you are deluded. The Republicans kept the Democrats out of the entire process, and the Democrats didn't even have the votes to make any meaningful impact either.
