We need more theistic activity

RE: We need more theistic activity
More theist activity is what you want?

Well, let me tell you, I have finally seen the light.

I was asleep last night when my room filled with light and the Holy One appeared to me.

He said to me "You have been chosen, my daughter, to bring my teachings of honour to this corrupt world. Go forth and bring the world to my teaching!"

And then the light was gone.

And, in its place, the weapon I was to wield in HIS name: The Sword of Kahless!

So, join me so you can enter Sto vo kor.

Don't be found unworthy and find yourself boarding the Barge of the Dead.

Qa'pla!

I believe that all people, including Christians, should extend to to the transgendered the same love and compassion as any other human being. That does not include denying reality and the harmful personal and cultural consequences of doing so.  No one needs to be a psychologist to know that anyone who was born objectively identifiable as the one sex but subjectively feels they are the opposite sex has a mental illness.

While it is true that some hateful people classify transgenders as metally ill for no other reason than to demonize them, I personally believe they are in the minority and I do not in any way endorse such callous misuse of medical diagnosis. The purpose of accurate diagnosis is to identify the most effective treatment. IMHO it is not loving or compassionate to deny people with medical conditions appropriate and effective treatments based on personal feelings.  In that respect, transgenderism is no different from anorexia, wherein the personal self-image of the individual is drastically at odds with physical facts. I do not know or claim to know what the right treatment is for any particular individual…transitioning, talk therapy, etc.  That is between them and their doctor or therapist. Or someone can be personally fine, accepting of their condition, and live productively with no treatment at all. Good for them. But don’t expect others to distort language to satisfy totalitarian urges to control how other people express themselves or shut them out of civil society. Having your feelings protected from uncomfortable opinions or even the unwarranted opinions of others is not a right.

I am certain that some people sincerely believe this is a civil rights issue and have nothing but the best intentions. I have common ground with such folks. The Americans with Disabilities Act is a civil rights bill designed for people with medical conditions well beyond paralysis and blindness. Allowing transitioned people to use the bathroom matching their transitioned state seems to me like a reasonable accommodation under ADA. Undermining Title IX or the readiness of our military is not.

At the same time, I do not believe that most of the people advocating for transgender rights have the best interest of the transgendered in mind; but rather, are either caught up in the insidious lies of post-modernism or are trying to promote a truly wicked social agenda intent on destroying the foundations of Western liberalism. I have nothing but contempt for the transparent virtue-signaling of vile revolutionaries like Divinity and find their false accusations of bigotry disgusting. As such I often over-react in ways that do not accurate reflect my sincerely held belief and said things that are mean. I have apologized for those times. That does not excuse the self-righteous hate of Hammy, Divinity, and similar would be thought-police who goad and misrepresent the positions of people with whom they disagree politically.

BTW here is the thread I started on "Tiffany" that Hammy considers hateful: https://atheistforums.org/thread-53618-p...pid1708089

I can get behind a lot of what you're saying here. However, I do not have a problem with calling another grown adult whatever they prefer me to call them. It's a matter of respect, imho. With that being said, I do agree with most of the above.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

None of which has anything to do with your use of the term "virtue-signalling."

And, a better analogy for you would be for me to call you by female pronouns.  Which I will do from now on.

Suit yourself. Otherwise, don't think I didn't notice how you think you dismiss an entire post because you object to my use of the term virtue-signalling. As far as that goes you didn't even provide justification for believing I used the term wrong.

You have absolutely zero evidence that the people who disagree with you are disingenuous with their motives.  All you’re doing is attempting to poison the well. It’s quite pathetic.

Regarding pronouns, there’s a huge difference between a transgendered person asking others to use the one their brain is wired as, and the belittling people like you engage in.  For someone who masterbates to classical philosophy as much as you do, you sure have a problem understanding context.  Not everything is equal, and giving a transgendered woman the dignity of the pronouns ‘she’ and ‘her’ is a completely different scenario than a jack-off like you going “herp, derp, call me ‘His Majesty’.”

I mean, shit, you keep bringing up Tiffany with scare quotes and calling her a man.  Even though she’s undergone both hormone treatments and gender reassignment surgery.  By any rational standard, right now, she’s a woman.  Yet, you make it a point to not accept it.  Why?  This isn’t simply a man dressed as a woman... no one is going to have their genitals operated on in order to switch volleyball leagues.

And I find it utterly laughable that you bring up ‘military readiness’ as a justification for your stance.  There was a time when people thought allowing blacks and other minorities into the military would weaken or sully the military.  Same for women.  Same for gays and lesbians.  Conservatives, time and again, have clutched their pearls at the very notion of The Other defending them.  Which, if you really think about it, is actually an insult to the military.  The world’s best, most professional military on the force cannot handle having transgendered people serving?  Fucking really?  Do you grasp how idiotic that sentiment is?

Now, I’m sure you’re going to question my motives.  You’re going to spew talking points about how I’m virtue-signaling, or that I’m playing at being a SJW, or something else similarly asinine.  And we both know it’s because you have absolutely zero logic for your position on this.  But, here’s the thing: I’m not writing this to show how cool I am.  I’m not writing this for kudos.  I truly believe that you are wrong.  That you are a bigot.  And if you’re offended by that, well, toughen the fuck up, snowflake.  And live with the knowledge that people like you have always been on the wrong side of history, and that this is no different.

How disingenuous. And to think that this post got kudos from CL. Sigh. I expected better than that from you CL!

You are well aware that words such as "homophobic" and "transphobic" mean more than simply "phobic of homosexuals" or "phobic of transgender people."

Next you'll be saying you can say the most bigoted things about homosexuals and that doesn't make you homophobic.

Yes... I'm referring to the thread title. Not only did you refer to Tiffany as a man but you just now put Tiffany in scare quotes as if they're not really Tiffany because, to you, they're really a man.

You're clearly transphobic.

I think you'e homophobic as well because I made a homosexual joke about Jesus once and you found that offensive... if Jesus were gay would that be a problem?

From now on you will refer to me as "His Majesty". You are bigot if you do not to affirm my self-identification as royalty by addressing me in my preferred manner. Failure to do so will result in you being barred from earning a livelihood or practicing your chosen profession.

Disgusting misrepresentation of transgender issues.

Calling transwomen men is transphobic because it means you don't consider them "real women". So you are clearly extremely ignorant and bigoted about transgenderism.

There's absolutely no reason to call someone "His Majesty" just because they say so. There is a reason to call a transwoman a woman: It's because they're a woman and suggesting that they're not really a woman is thunderously bigoted. It's as if you care about genitals more than transgender issues.

Don't forget to tell him that if he is a man he's certainly not a "real man".

Your post is just a bigoted rant, with a total failure to justify said bigotry, that starts by disingenuously pretending that words such as "transphobia" and "homophobia" refer merely to people who are afraid of transgender people and homosexuals. Epic fail.

Here's Google's definition of the word "transphobia":

"dislike of or prejudice against transsexual or transgender people."

Note the bold. That's you, asshole.

(May 2, 2018 at 9:12 pm)KevinM1 Wrote: I mean, shit, you keep bringing up Tiffany with scare quotes and calling her a man.

Exactly why he's a bigot and exactly why his thread title did violate the prime directive. If the thread title had been both grossly untrue and racist or homophobic my report would have been taken more seriously. You can't escape the clear violation of the prime directive by side-stepping it with the idea that he was probably referring to Tiffany's biological sex... because it was extremely clear that he was saying that Tiffany isn't a female in any sense at all. Referring to Tiffany, who is clearly female, as "man" and going on a transphobic rant about her clearly falls under breaking this part of the rule of The Prime Directive: "Posts which are comprised of outrageous misrepresentations of events within the public record will be considered as trolling." Whether a transwoman is really a woman is no more worth discussing than whether a black person is really human or a gay person's homosexuality is really natural. These are all non-issues that are only brought up by total bigots and go against all facts.

If it had instead been a clearly false fact about a black person and the thread title contained the N word or "faggot" then my report would have succeeded. Despite the fact that this is no different. Even the most otherwise progressive people who are anti all bigotry completely miss the point on transgender issues.
