Hammy reintroduced the Tiffany thread into the conversation, not me. He considers it hateful to call a man a man. As I mentioned earlier, Tiffany is a man, cosmetically altered to look like a woman, unfairly competing against women.

Sex and gender are not the same, as has been pointed out endlessly. If someone has to ignore this fact, which is established by experts in these fields of study, then it's clearly to support personal bigotry.

I'd suggest talking to an actual transgender person. I never properly understood about it until I talked to one, but I was fully accepting of them before that anyhow and felt no need to tell them "what they are". It's none of my business, doesn't hurt anyone, and they know a damn sight better what's going on in their mind and body than I do; as do the experts who have studied it all.

I also recommend researching "gender dysphoria". After that, if you still cling to saying, "Well I still call them a man/woman", then you're using nonstandard terms, and no one ever makes a point by doing so. We all know where all this really stems from: fear of those who are different. The fear turns pre-emptively into intolerance and aggression.

From a religious point of view, we have a God who can't even match up bodies and minds successfully to create a person with uniform gender/sex. Pretty lame of him, huh? Either that or he wants it that way, for some reason, in which case stop being a dick to his creations.

I think the simplest way to explain it is that a trans person does not feel like the sex that they are, and this sentiment is a real condition and not something that is freely chosen or that they just made up because they felt like it.

I don't think anyone here is arguing that. The argument seems to be whether or not it is appropriate to call them by the name/pronouns they prefer.

That is not the argument. There are two arguments going on: 1) whether it is right to coerce people to express themselves using certain words and 2) whether it is right and proper to segregate sporting activities by the objective biological sex of the players rather than their personal feelings of identity.
