Maybe also give the non christian panel member less power in the debate like 1 post every 2 days, etc
It's not a "safe" space if an outsider is allowed.
Like religiousforums.com, they have specific areas that those who don't belong to the religion are not allowed to post in. They've specifically coded it that way, finally, because before that people were constantly getting into trouble trying to keep up with how the rules worked.
If it becomes enough of a problem like that here, either the same code will have to be implemented or the area removed.
We'll see, but I wouldn't mind giving it a shot.

I think of this more as a panel discussion focusing on the subtle points of agreement and disagreement between Christian AF members without the distraction of large worldview differences.
So for the rest of us it's basically like watching a Sitcom
On this board sure, but outside your door globally, religion can get quite nasty and divisive and more than mere words.

But this is not apartheid, it's just a discussion between the christians on AF about what their roles are. For the rest of us it's like watching a talk show. And I would prefer Minimalist to at least feature on the show. Why you think fox news gets an atheist to be interviewed by one of their anchormen every now and then? For the views.

I see no problem with them having their "safe space" to be honest. It's not as though they couldn't venture out and respond to us. When they do, you can still call them fools if you wish.

From what I understand, the reason Neo set it up to be just us is so that it can be a more productive, higher quality discussion without the distraction/detraction of other posts, considering the subject topic. It isn't about "not wanting to get his feelings hurt" or needing a "safe space". Pretty much the same reason I suggested a civility subforum.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I wish I hadn't ate all my popcorn. Can't afford to buy more until Tuesday. And I wanna watch the Christians Say The Darnest Things shitshow.
And it's not the same without popcorn.

I knew that eventually someone would compare this to a "safe space". I can see why except there is a difference. There is no attempt to shelter the participants from criticism. Anyone can read, observe, and if they so desire comment and critique the discussion on a parallel thread. I would encourage it. CL is correct. I am hoping for a deeper exploration by Christians as to why Christians in general should participate on AF and our individual reasons for doing so...warts and all.

I guess we should have a peanut gallery for it or whatever the term is.
And yeah, it's not a safe space. As hilarious as I find it I think it's a good idea.

Why is it hilarious?
