I don't mean any thread specifically. But I've seen some vile, disgusting things said to him plenty of times that weren't warranted. So when he makes a nasty comment and everyone goes crazy, it just reeks of the ol' "can dish it but cant take it."

Funny, that was his excuse after accusing me of sucking random dick. And I believe it was alpha male who chimed in with agreement.

Way to miss the point. You're making a tu quoque argument defending Neo and pretending to be unbiased. So yeah, you're full of shit.

But the point I was making is that I suspect that the theists often don't actually realise how they are offending people. If you have been indoctrinated to see that something about other people is sinful and disgusting, then you'll feel that on an emotional level and believe it to be true even if you cannot rationalise it. But if you then disregard everything that the person says to you and continue sprouting forth your own indoctrination then it can be extremely hurtful to those who have tried reaching out to you. You are basically telling them that they are worth less as human beings. I admit this is why CL has previously rubbed me up the wrong way in the past even though I know that she doesn't intend it. I also admit that's why I didn't hold back making my thread about how I theism childish even though I knew that theists wouldn't find it offensive (even though it was not the intention behind it)

^this^

The number one barrier between better relations between theists and well meaning non theists is the cavalier assumption on the part of theists that we need fixing and they are entitled to attempt it.  (The number one barrier between theists and angry atheists is probably unresolved resentment toward theists which rightly belongs to other believers in the atheists' lives.)

Well, here's the thing. While many christians leverage their faith wrongly and place themselves over the unsaved making the feel and sometimes act superior, the truth of the matter is when the religion is broken down to it's core beliefs/tenaments one of the first things we must accept is that we all have no intrinsic moral worth or value before God. Then again I know many 'christians' get saved and used their new position too cast others down.. which is the oppsite of what we should be doing. Because even if we somehow knew we were all saved our job then becomes to shift people's thoughts from the OT form of spiritual justification to God from morality based works to atonement and redemption. where no one is better no one deserves Heaven that our perfered status is not because of who we are or what we have done but, a simnple gift from God, so that no man shall boast about what we have done.

You clearly do not understand what I am referring to and is evidence supporting my claim if you think this means you are being nullified to the same extent.

So you can honestly say that you were just as likely to become a muslim or buddhist? Even if that were true in your case, it most certainly is not for most theists otherwise you wouldn't have certain religions predominant in different countries.
I was born into budhism, then southern baptist and can now say I am neither.

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I am being a completely objective observer here when I say this. I'm not saying he's right to insult people right back or that his generalizations are fair. What I'm saying is that I'm seeing a double standard here, in some people thinking he's awful or sociopathic for saying these things, when many of you guys do the same thing... and do it worse even lol.

You mean like the thread where I criticized him for making off-topic criticism of the character of the thread's participants, and he responded by making snide comments about me sucking the dicks of random truckers?  You mean like that?  You're so full of shit, CL.  Objective observer my ass.  You're as partisan as Neo is.  Regardless, even if there is a double standard, each person is responsible for their own offenses.  You don't defend Neo for his excesses and then play the "I'm just making observations" card.  Neo is being held to account, perhaps mistakenly, perhaps not, but if you have problems with other posters, address that on its own merit.  This is just another example of you circling the wagons whenever a theist is accused of something.

That is 1000% truth.

Nothing Noe has ever said trumps anything said to Christians. Some Atheists can/won't stand to receive insult to the degree the tend to want to dish it out

The thing is, not everyone will like us. “Us” being atheists or theists, people in general. I’m “pro” creating the subforum but at the same time, it’s just part of life that there will be people who don’t like your views or respect your beliefs. I think it is better to accept that, than quarantine one’s self to a safe space out of not wishing to deal with people’s views. I don’t like conflict myself but you can’t learn from others by shielding yourself from it. I get this is about civility but I liken this to atheists showing up to a local church and asking for a separate space within the church to discuss their views without reproach from theists. Not evah gonna happen.

I forgot about Neo saying about not using his real name. My memory is awful. Apologies.

First I've heard of it. Although I always used his new name anyway because I figured eventually that would be the one that he'd be known by.

Besides, I wouldn't want to dead name him Smile

Anybody seen A Theist's most recent post, #24. He wants to take the safe zone and run with it discussing all manor of christianity.

Sounds to me like it might be time to shut it down. AFAIC it was barely a good idea to begin with.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.
