Trump Turns G-7 into a Reality Show

RE: Trump Turns G-7 into a Reality Show
This was apparent from that photo.

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/06/eu-will...um-merkel/

Quote:EU will follow Justin Trudeau and act against US tariffs: Merkel

Quote:“The withdrawal, so to speak, via tweet is of course … sobering and a bit depressing,” Merkel said in an ARD television interview following the G7 summit.
The summit did not mark the end of the transatlantic partnership between Europe and the U.S., Merkel said. But she repeated that Europe could no longer rely on its ally and should take its fate into its own hands.
Like Canada, the European Union is preparing counter-measures against U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, in line with World Trade Organisation rules, Merkel said.
“So we won’t let ourselves be ripped off again and again. Instead, we act then too,” Merkel said in an unusually combative tone.

Guess what, Shitface.  Trade wars are not easy to win.... but they are damned easy to lose.

Where I live (Iowa), we are already starting to feel the pinch.  Between the Russian meddling and the precision targeting of Trump's base, does he even have a chance in 2020?

Have you talked to anyone in Iowa?

I'm here in TN, and yes, he has a chance. In fact, if the Dems don't fuck it up again, he's got more than a chance.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

As I have pointed out before on this board, Trump has fallen into the classic Prisoner's Dilemma:

Trump is driving the World to the lowest common denominator.

It's not the prisoner's dilemma, because the threat to the US is not the same as the threat to other countries.

It's a game of chicken, but the US is driving an Escalade, and Canada for example is driving a smart car.  A head on collision may mess up the US economy's paint job, but Canada's economy will be dead.  The US is bargaining from a much stronger position.

Trump will get some concessions, and everything will be fine, because the alternative for the smaller countries is really devastating.

Attempting to extort our allies for concessions won;t make everything "fine", lol..thats the sort of thinking that leads to trumpian economic theory in the first place.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

But it's not just the US against Canada, it's the US against the world. The rest of the world do not want a trade war and will close ranks against Trump. America cannot afford to live only on what it produces itself.
