Can God love?
RE: Can God love?
Yeah, that must be it...no one could possibly have a problem with killing a jew to cover all the times he shook it four times instead of three.   Jerkoff

One of the reasons things work out between my wife, my wifes family..and myself..is that they can at least accept the legitimacy of other peoples concerns over some issues of their faith..and in fact find those issues concerning themselves.  You know..like any decent person would.  This doesn;t diminish their faith, it simply expresses integrity in faith - something sorely lacking on these boards.

They have no need to dismiss others by asserting some batshit mythology over their objections in the clear presence of those objections.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

That's pretty much the bottom line. For some, not all, some, they just don't want God to exist because that would mean there is a moral authority higher than themselves to which they would be accountable.

Or it's the same as you refusing to reach Nirvana because you think it's made up stupid shit that has no basis in reality.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

That's a great way to put it. They want a heaven without God. I would add that they want a heaven without God so they can claim to be god.

This is utterly ridiculous, since it makes the fatal assumption that atheists actually do believe in your god, but act like they don't due to some personal hangup.

My objections to your god - specifically the way in which it's portrayed in your holy tome, and all of the very obvious issues that it presents that Christians simply gloss over (with, for example, pained analogies) - is in addition to a more fundamental issue, namely I cannot believe in something that has zero proof of existing.

So, this isn't a matter of "I don't like god, but acknowledge he exists," but rather "Your god doesn't exist, it's a pretty obvious fiction, and here are some other issues I have with the character."  From my POV, it's no different than talking about Nurse Ratched.

Moreover, while I expect the usual parade of mental midgets on here to trot out the tired "You just want to sin" BS, I honestly expected better from you.  Did you not learn one damn thing during the drama that led to the creation of the "What do Christians think to gain by being here?" thread(s)?  If you want to actually spread your message of your god, then you'd be much better served by attempting to have an actual dialogue.  Which, among other things, means accepting that our myriad claims of not believing your god exists, not believing that sin is something that exists, and not believing that an afterlife exists are truthful.

Haha. I don't even want "heaven". It sounds awful. I'd rather just do my innings and rest in peace.

Yeah, I just see that from Neo as BS times two. Not much different from MK claiming all atheists are secretly believers who have turned their back on god. I guess in either case it brings them comfort to think and say that... but at the cost of looking like complete twats.

So in order for me to be unlike ISIS I have to be against western culture?!!! This is beyond retarded.
