If I was going to make a religion, it would be based around the fact that "God" is most likely to be me, if anything.
If I'm dreaming, hallucinating or have even willingly plugged myself into something, my brain (or the equivalent) is creating "our universe". These are things that have a reasonable probability of being true at any given moment, especially the first one. Time and again I've been convinced a dream is real.
Whatever happens to be the case, I still live entirely within a VR created by my own brain. So that still makes me its God.
