Star Trek (this can't be right)
July 7, 2018 at 1:31 pm
I don't know why I thought there were twenty-something seasons of the show. I came across it on Netflix, and it only had three seasons available. I thought: this isn't right. I looked at the internet movie database, and turns out there were only three seasons.

Wayyyy late, bro. IIRC there weren't three complete seasons.

I'm always late in discovering certain things.

Yes, TOS was supposed to be a 5 year mission, but got shut down at the third year, because ratings weren't great...
Then it and on syndication and everyone started watching and it grew into what it is now.
7 seasons of TNG
7 seasons of voyager.
7 seasons of deep space nine.
4 seasons of Enterprise
2 seasons and still ongoing of discovery

And I still haven’t seen Discovery.
No loss there.
I lost interest in Trek when they decided everything had to be retro and with Abrams movies.

I too have not seen discovery, nor have I seen the Abrams movies; frankly, I have not been very interested to see them. Perhaps, I'll give Discovery a shot later. However, for now, I still enjoy Star Trek (TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise) along with the movies up to and including Nemesis.
That said, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, is one of my favorite Trek movies. In this movie, Dr. McCoy has plenty of criticism about 20th century medicine; he sees it as primitive. Out of curiosity, being that you are a doctor in the medical field, if humanity was able to focus most of its efforts on improving science/medicine (medical knowledge, technology, treatments etc.), do you think that the medicine developed from such efforts would make the medicine we have now seem primitive?

3+7+7+4+1 (and counting) gives 22 seasons across all the incarnations, including STD.

Saw 2009 (incidentally that's the last time I watched a movie in the cinema), and frankly there was no plot, just oneliners from TOS and a stupid series of nonsensical contrivances to get a whiny little bitch into the captain's chair by the end.

Distressingly, there are more episodes of 'Gilligan's Island' than TOS. Just goes to show, I suppose.

The boyfriend said the original Star Trek didn't really become popular until after the series ended, which I suppose explains why there are only three seasons.
