As far as the USA goes, there seems to be enough people, and a big enough lobby group, who accept the cost benefit analysis that mass shootings are a price that they are willing to pay for the right to own pretty but lethal toys.

We have the third lowest murder rate in the Americas. Behind Chile and Canada, both countries have fairly lax gun laws as well compared to many places.

Most of the "Americas" except for Canada are what the Orange Shitgibbon calls "Shitholes."  I supposed if you are happy to compare us to other shitholes that's fine.  We can stop pretending to be civilized and modern first world states now so that the gun nuts can be happy while they hold their guns and jerk off.

The more the corporations who make firearms sell fear, use class and race and divide cops from blacks, and even tea party right who fear government, the more violence that happens the more weapons they sell.

For a lot (too many) of people, Red Dawn wasn't just a shitty and highly improbable 1980s flick, but a training guide.  That all that's stopping the US from being taken over by fascism is a Wolverine.  The irony is, of course, lost on them.

Spetsnaz gave a "visiting forces" demonstration for us once. I figured they were at least as good as the Green Berets. This means the Wolverines would have lasted about ten minutes, including a nine minute "suit up" time.
