2) Bill Maher
3) Lawrence M. Krauss
4) Richard Dawkins
5) Sean Carroll
6) Alexander Nevzorov
7) Christopher Hitchens
i think its russian journalist Alexander Nevzorov. Be an atheist in the country where religion is protected by government and you can be in jail for your atheism is not so easy

Don't know anything about Alexander Nevzorov, but among that list at least, definitely Sean Carroll.
In fact, here's how I would rank them (excluding Alexander Nevzorov) in descending order (1 being the most liked and 6 being the least liked):
1) Sean Carroll
2) Christopher Hitchens
3) Sam Harris
4) Richard Dawkins
5) Bill Maher
6) Lawrence M. Krauss
However, overall, the best atheist out there is probably someone who just isn't famous at all.

yeah it could be anyone but its list of popular people that can really affect world through media. Nobody knows Nevzorov but i include him here because i myself from Russia - and he is most angriest motherf..kin atheist i know (i dont know if any his speeches translated to english). If exlude him - my first place go to like Sam Harris.

best - means it can and do affect our mostly religious world through media (tv ,radio, internet, preformances) and change peoples minds towards atheism. in other words -" most effective "

Face it - these two have waaaaaayy more media access than anyone on the list - and consequently reach more people.
By the given definition of " best", they win hands down....
