An image of the earth that I neither took nor saw taken, but accept on authority. Illustrated by the fact that most of us assume such images are taken with a single shot, when they're actually composite images stitched together.

You are an idiot. If you ever taken flight, you would already have seen the curvature of the earth.

Also, a greek who I don't remember did more than 2000 years ago, measured the radius of the earth with a decent accuracy using nothing but hourglasses and two wells.

You must be equivocating your position. You are not a student of psychology, you sure are a study subject for psychology.

Eratosthenes
The first person to determine the size of Earth was Eratosthenes of Cyrene, who produced a surprisingly good measurement using a simple scheme that combined geometrical calculations with physical observations. Eratosthenes was born around 276 B.C., which is now Shahhat, Libya. He studied in Athens at the Lyceum.Jun 21, 2006

Thats the guy. Drawed a blank, might be the onset of alzheimers. One of the few greeks that actually done something instead of thinking about thinking.

I ask Google the tough questions, like "where are my glasses?" Or "where is the bathroom?" Hehe

Actually, the Greeks did a helluva lot.  It isn't generally known, but they travelled to the ends of the Earth, naming stuff.  This is why things that the Greeks had nothing to do with have Greek names.  As soon as someone in Mesopotamia, say, or China, invented something, an ancient Greek would jump out of a nearby bush, give the invention a name, and take all the credit.

As Homer said, 'Never trust Greeks bearing passports.'

Yabut there were those greeks talking about caverns and thinking about thinking. I like caverns, the one only a small part of me can explore.

Also, going on vacation. People at work even throwed a party. Good.

Let's face it: you have same chances in convincing a flat Earther that Earth is round just as convincing a Christian that Jesus is not God.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

OK, since there are no flat earthers on this forum (or more likely they are afraid to admit they are) I've found some stuff that they consider to be evidence of Earth being flat, so maybe you can practice debunking it so that when you meet with an actual flat earther. So let's say you meet with this one, how do you respond?

Quote:Jon McIntyre was troubled by the evidence of the flat earth and simply could not bring himself to accept that such a massive conspiracy to hide the very nature of the earth could exist. He came up with an ingenious way to determine, once and for all, whether the earth was a sphere or flat. He concluded that if the earth were flat then two equally high mountains separated by many miles would appear to the observer to be the same height if the observer was stationed at a vantage point that was equal in height to the peak of the two mountaintops.
All he needed to do was to move perpendicular to the alignment of the mountains, thus creating a parallax between the mountains, and he could then see both mountains side-by-side. If, however, the earth were a globe, then the more distant mountaintop would drop below the height of the nearer mountain top by thedistance in miles squared multiplied by eight inches (miles^2 × 8 inches = distance of drop on the supposed spherical earth).
McIntyre searched and found three mountains that met his criteria. The three mountains were found in the Black Mountain Range in North Carolina. He positioned himself with his camera at an elevation of 5,385 feet on the ridge of Tennent Mountain. He then trained his camera at Fryingpan Mountain, six (6) miles in the distance from his position on the ridge at Tennent Mountain. The peak of Fryingpan Mountain has an elevation of approximately 5,380 feet above sea level. Thirty four (34) miles beyond Fryingpan Mountain was Graybeard Mountain, with an elevation of approximately 5,395 feet.

If the earth were a globe, then the curvature of the earth would cause Graybeard Mountain to drop 770 feet and be out ofthe sight of the observer. But that is not what we see.

I have no idea lol. Assuming all the measurements and assumptions are accurate I wouldn't know what to say. My guess is that the 770 ft drop assumption isn't taking something about the angle of the vantage point into account.

How level was the camera. the reference lines are drawn in and that could easily be on the slant.
