To be honest I don't see flat Earthers anymore ridiculous than creationists and I do preclude that you consider creationists serious?

The thing is that guy is quite serious Christian whose other books are about how Jews are evil and are cause of all evil, like they're behind 9/11 attacks, and do you take anti semitism as a joke? And also, aside from homophobia,  that flat Earth book has lots of hate speech toward Jews.

Or, indeed, maybe you're right and that guy is a racist but also has a great sense of humor so he jokes on the side about Earth being flat.

Debated no, just like global warming deniers and evolution deniers, they cannot be debated, or ignored. You simply can only tell them they are full of shit. But they should not be ignored, because at this point in political history, the far right is giving these assholes a political voice.

"Bait?" Thing is that racism and hate come together naturally with conspiracy theories/ religious, because that is the way it's adherents explain why there is evidence they are wrong and why majority of the people in the world doesn't adhere to their claims.

As well as the idea of a "golden age" in the distant past when everybody believed what they preach.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

To be fair Yon, I think you're underestimating how many serious Flat-Earthers there are out there. It IS a serious movement. Whether or not it was started by trolls is up for debate - though it's a debate I don't really care to have because, to be honest, I don't care. There certainly ARE plenty of trolls in the movement and I think they blend in so well that it can be sometimes hard to know who you're dealing with, if you choose to engage.

That being said, there are a few contrarians in this thread that would disagree with you if you said the sky was blue. I'd learned to not waste the energy or time, for the most part.

Ignore them, absolutely. Facts are not subject to debate.

I've been dealing with conspiracies for over fifty years now. I rarely pass up the chance to disabuse people. I respond to the purported fact, not the person making it. If we ignore them they are the only voices being heard.

This thread is broken, because it misses the obvious 3rd option: laugh at them. Laugh long and hard, point at them, and mock them for the fucking morons they are. Enjoy yourself with it. Use your best cat memes. Make gifs of you spinning your finger around your head in the "crazy" motion.

The only response to this shit is: "You actually BELIEVE this shit? Hahahaha, you're such a moron. You have internet, and this is the best information you could find? *ROFL*"
