There's no doubt that the regime is shit..but we help shit regimes out all the time.  We don't really get to pick and choose the leaders of every country we deal with.  There's a strong profit motive, backed up by a legitimate humanitarian concern for the people of the ksa, and..even though this is the (not-so-quiet) quiet part - a strategic interest in containing iran..both economically and militarily - while simultaneously preventing china or russia from providing the same service with a more enticing offer (which they absolutely can and will if we don't).

Saudies are not capable of manufacturing nuclear weapons; there's a huge, gigantic gap in the amount of both scientific and military capabilities between the Saudi kingdom and the world.
They can't even make a rifle; for God's sake.

But they can buy one, and buy the man trained to shoot them. They did so in the Gulf War for example. American soldiers were a fine example for the merc that works for the Sauds for a pile of dollars.

The nuclear reactor is an American price to pay from the Trump administration to the Saudies; MBS probably payed billions to get the technology; and payed other billions to hire an army of foreign engineers to work the plant for his ass.

Trump is a business man. So he did business with the Saudies; nothing more and nothing less. You pay, you get; that's how it goes in his world.

Saudies didn't make shit. Remember they can't even manufacture a rifle.
But they purchased this technology from a man more terrible than the whole Saudi regime and the Israeli regime: Donald Trump.

The asshole along with his disgusting Saudi friends will start a world war !

The Sauds must be stopped. But it never ends there; there's a "Trump" supporting them.

We had a better deal in place with regards to iran.  Your boy blew it up, part of his overriding policy of "dismantle anything the mean black guy ever did".

I kudoed you for your first statement. I read the deal in part with regards to iran. it was shit.

you didn't read any of it, the only thing I'm sure you did read was some pro war article lying about the deal like fox news and the GOP were doing non stop

Quote:we just put them on a time table with no real supervision. we went in with all sorts of restrictions and tie lines, but they would not agree to any of our demands.

funny because they agreed to
  1. shut down all but their oldest generation reactors
  2. not enrich uranium above 3.67%....weapons grade uranium requires an enrichment of 90%
  3. phase out  a large number of their centrifuges
  4. limit their production stockpile to 300kg
  5. hand over most of their stockpiles of enriched uranium and heavy water
  6. their uranium mines will be constantly monitored
  7. after 8 years if nothing happens then remaining sanctions will be lifted
  8. if any violations occur then the sanctions go back into effect
Quote:ultimately kerry folded like a house of cards and gave iran everything they wanted. including 150 billion dollars.

you mean they got the sanctions lifted like they wanted? and that $100+ billion always belonged to Iran, its their fucking money which was seized years ago.

Quote: Did you know we had to give them 7 months prior notice for any 'surprise inspections" which we wish to conduct?

as opposed to not being able to send in any inspectors at all before the deal ?

what did the US and other nations lose from this deal?

nothing, zero, nada, zilch, squat... all they did was return Irans money and lift sanctions.

Our nuclear industry is private, Atlas.  Not state run.  OBVs I'm not going to be the least bit surprised if Prince Jared put his hands in the cookie jar..but when that entire family of grifters is out of office, KSA will have to deal with the private interests and their accompanied government snooping all the same. Similarly, when you finally get around to doing something about your dictator problem (or he dies, or gets murdered by a rival, etc etc etc) the people will benefit from the energy.

If the regime isn't capable of manufacturing nuclear weapons, then...what's the problem?
