X's, t's, crosses too (the top bit is great for attaching signage - assuming you don't just nail it to their chest or face, or wtvs), and also bare posts. The last one was real handy when you hung them up by the feet, pulled their arms out, and staked them to the ground. Twice the fun with the same amount of wood. Crucifixion question?
Door on the left, one cross each.

I think crucifixion crosses in the shape of an "X" are more aesthetically pleasing than the ones in the shape of a "T".
Besides, if one drills a hole in the centre of a cross in the shape of an "X" and then attaches an axle, through the hole, to a vertical post, the cross can be spun around giving all sorts of additional effects. Much better than ya standard crucifixion, don'tcha think?

The sky's the limit! The term refers more to the disposition of the body, not the shape or perks of the structural support. Any creative way you can find to string some hooker up and stretch him out is a crucifixion.

As I understand it, the criminal was made to carry his own cross up the hill before being crucified. When the Roman soldier said to the victim "I want you to carry this heavy cross up the hill so we can nail you onto it and leave you hanging until you die" What would stop him saying the Aramaic equivalent of "Piss off, carry it yourself!"
What could they do that was worse than Crucifixion?
(This is nothing to do with the religious aspects of the story, just a practical question)
They would go after a relative or friend beat them and make them carry your cross. if they gave any crap they would be crucified as well.

Question: Would it make any significant theological difference if Christ wasn't crucified, but died someone other way? The mantra is that he 'died for your sins'. Wouldn't he be just as dead and your sins be just as forgivable if he was clubbed to death or run over by an oxcart?

Yes, it would. He had to suffer, in effect, be tortured. This effected his sacrificial value with regards to vicarious redemption.
The token that endures more pain, pays for more pain.

So how much sacrificial value would you place on a crucifixion as opposed to being run over by a cart full of shit being pulled by an ass? You may use Shekels or may convert to any currency of today.
