Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
President Trump is a mysoginistc buffoon. Read a few of his tweets and it's obvious. Even people who voted for him think he's a joke.

But - I keep on hearing on NPR how "he's not doing enough to distance himself from white supremists".

....

What's he gotta do?

If he comes out and condems the skinheads and NAZIs- his detractors will just say he's insincere.

Perhaps if he publicly beheaded David Duke.

But then - he would be labeled a murderous freak who doesn't respect human life.

The orange schlub can't win.

I mean...maybe if he had been denouncing white supremacy and the prominent white supremacists who endorse him, consistently throughout his campaign and first three years as president, it would feel a bit more sincere. But, then again, if he had done that he probably wouldn’t be president right now so... *shrugs*

His election campaign just spent millions in ads about a fucking invasion of browns lurking in every dark corner.

You don’t get to run on stoking fears of The Great Replacement, and then clutch your pearls when folks point out your endlessly racist shit.

Nor does rejecting hate immunize you. That’s contemporary white supremacy’s entire rebranding effort. Racism without hate.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Calling white Supremacists terrorists I am fine with. But that motive still does not address ease of access. The Congressional baseball shooter targeted Republicans, you could call him a terrorist too. But still doesn't change that both had easy access to firearms.

If America wants to truly reduce firearm fatalities. Sure it is great to challenge hate and call it out. But even outside politically and religiously motivated violence, we still have an average of 100 people a day dying from thing like suicides, domestic murder, accidental, not just mass shootings.

Supporters of firearms can be reasonable, in fact, even MOST NRA members WANT universal background checks. So the real reason nothing gets done is because we get stuck in this game of "Motive Whack A Mole".

Again, it is great to call a terrorist a terrorist and condemn them. But regardless of hate groups or guns, reactionary bullshit doesn't solve shit. Just like if you want to avoid cancer, you don't wait until you are at stage 4.

And trying to claim that Trump tried to do the right thing after this weekend's shooting is hollow. Just today he tried to gaslight and distract trying to play victim saying neither Clinton or Obama were blamed for the mass shootings under their watch. And Trump will go right back to scapegoating and vilification once he thinks the news cycle has moved on enough.

This is simply muddying the waters to avoid only one party is obstructing and bowing to the CEOs of firearm companies.

When one helps 10 grannys across the street and murders one, hes a granny killer.
When one tweets and says racist/supremacist shit all the time, but scolds supremacists ONCE* after one tried to kill mexicans, hes still a racist/supremacist.

No tissue from me for this vile excuse of a human being.

*because its obvisously very convenient and more obviously helping his public image

Jesus fuck - you really are a digital idiot, ain't ya?

Digital idiot - a person who is unwaveringly either/or.

Example - a person who believes that if you don't like Hillary Clinton, you must be a Trump supporter who wants to kill Mexican children and force kids to pray in school.

Trump is a deeply flawed individual, but his detractors are unable to deal with him rationally. One would hope the press could function as a dispassionate check against Trump's worst impulses, but the press is incompetent and hopelessly partisan.
