And that is something I fear for the US. Religion and government as one.....A disturbing thought.

US senators believing in stupid things would stop being a problem if people would stop voting for them.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...

The one thing that will save us is that xtianity is fragmented into lots of stupid beliefs and they all hate each other as much as they hate us.

You are wrong about denominations hating each other as much as they hate atheist. Over 200 years ago, they disliked each other enough to agree to a separation of church and state because they didn't want one or the other to have too much power....

No we do not, we do have a difference of opinion about some parts of the Bible, on salvation most all believe the same thing except for a minor issue or two. Most of you have had an affiliaition with the Catholic church or knows someone who has, you base your opinions on their beliefs and I can say that they in no way represent the beliefs of most protestent churches. What they did not want was another Church of England situation, the church has no buisness running a goverment and the goverment has no buisness trying to run the churches.
