RE: why faith fails
Maybe they make sadists prayers.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

If you were to quantify faith into a physical shape and size the idea here it all the faith you would need is that much of what a mustard seed represents.

Look at one of your mustard seeds. God promises if you can expend that much faith and seek him out on his terms he will alleviate your doubts. More specifically a mountain of doubt.

In reality, god makes no such promise, so that's not really god's problem. You make that promise, it's your problem.

to who? 2.4% of the population of the planet who btw have a resentment/grudge against god anyway?

That's not a failure rate to be ashamed of. that is a failure rate indicative of those who are simply hell bent on disbelief.

I can see why you would imagine that the numbers of people who believe in a god..mostly not your god, have something to say about it's success at delivering tangibles.

....but if we're being honest, with each other or ourselves....god fails to deliver 100% of the time.

-again, though, that's not gods problem, that's yours. He didn't promise anybody shit.

Hindu god(s)?
Chatolic god?
Cathars god?
Protestant god?
Baptist god?
Anabaptist god?

That's a failure rate comparable to what you'd get if you prayed to a teddy bear.

But the verse about the mustard seed isn't (specifically) about faith.  It's about the growth of the Church, for which faith isn't necessary.
