This is one of my TOP TEN favorite songs, and I AM AN ABBA FAN!

They won some awards and charted several songs and three albums.  Successful tours, including opening for the Stones.

How much more recognition do you think they should have gotten?

I think they should have been on par with Styx and RUSH. I see them a lot like the Ramones, famous in a underground way, but not at the top like the Ramones should have been as well.

I think you might be asking a little much, there.  As good as they were (which was very), Living Colour had a somewhat limited appeal.  To expect them to be accorded the level of bands like RUSH or Styx isn't really sensible.

Styx?  On level with Rush?  Boston maybe.  If Lorelei gets stuck in my head now, I'm gonna be pissed.

RUSH stands alone.

Not the point.

When you look at all the famous music legends of all time, from Elvis, to Chuck Berry to Ray Charles to Rush, and the Beatles, sure, some bands do better than others because of competition and the shear numbers of aspiring bands in history wanting to hit it big.

I just see Living Colour in the same light as the Ramones. Both talented, but deserve more than being "underground" fame.

You're right, the music industry isn't fair. Some great bands never receive the depth of recognition that they deserve, while talentless shitbags soak up all the adoration.

And, if it's not the point, there was absolutely no need to marginalize Hendrix. You also hedged your bets on Living Colour over RUSH.

I don't see talent at all in the Ramones.  Simple songs, sloppy playing, off pitch vocals.  That's why they are a "you had to be there" group.  At least ABBA had great arrangements, polish, and viking women.

How? The only thing they were guilty of to me, was being ahead of their time. I really WOULD place my bets, if music were a horse race, on Vernon Reid over Hendrex, and James Hetfield. I'd take Living Colour over the Beatles, Rush, Pink Floyd, and yes, even ABBA.

I don't think they were sloppy at all. The Ramones were simply competing against cookie cutter music, That is what punk is.
