And you know the depressing thing about the whole impeachment affair? Even if he is convicted in this impeachment, and I do not think this is likely given that the Republicans are displaying a cult-like reverence for this orangutan, and changing the rules of this trial so it's even more rigged than the trial in Paths of Glory:





But that, even if he is impeached and removed from office, there is literally nothing preventing him from STILL running for and potentially getting re-elected. Sure, this would hinge on his being accepted by his party for the primary, but A) an incumbent president being denied the nomination by his party hasn't happened since 1884, and B) Do you really think after all this shit, the Republican Party would make an exception for him now?

Douglas.Adams would have looked at this whole mess and wondered where it all went batshit on the probability axis.

As unlikely as it was for Trump to win the election in the first place, we should keep an eye out for multidimensional birds influencing things rather than Russians......

Or maybe the Republican electorate has reached the point where they’re that shameless and that open to blatant authoritarianism and corruption (and honestly, when he decided he wanted to pardon Blagojevich, it started to look like he’s pro-corruption for its own sake, not even out of a desire to protect his own agenda like when he pardoned Joe Arpaio, but because politicians being corrupt seem to have become such a bonum per se for him that even pardoning a ludicrously corrupt Democrat seems like a good idea.)
