Identity is axiomatic, what argument or reason do you expect..argument and reason both depend on it?
People are either a..or they are not-a. They cannot be a and not-a simultaneously. If a person believes in god, they cannot simultaneously not believe in god. If a person does not believe in god, they cannot simultaneously believe in god. If a person thinks they know something, they cannot simultaneously think that they do not know that something. If a person thinks that they do not, they cannot simultaneously think that they do. Agnostics happen to think that they don't know something. There are plenty of agnostics here for you to confirm that people do function like that. You could ask them.
